If I could get my hands on a fully legal import H701E (2018) over here ~ rego & plate not ending in total chaos and dramas, would be my current dream bike to build...

Mate ~ nope, unfortunately we can't get them legally imported and homologated over here ready for full on legal rego and license plates. Its a long complicated saga involving the China Compulsory Certificate, commonly known as a CCC = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Compulsory_Certificate

There is more to the story like excessive imports duties and the so called "face-matter" as everything over here in the PRC = Peoples Republic of Changes needs to be big, expensive and impressive to "show off to others" and gain face, a H701E or KTM690E are not in that particular category and the manufacturers have no solid interests in bringing them over. On the other side, a overweight loud "rolled in glitter" (chrome) H-D gives you a lot of face. Lets not forget, some Asian natives are height challenged and unable to safely control a tall motorcycle like the EXC, 701E/690E, etc...etc..

Now back to the purpose of the thread, post up them HARD Kits H701RR / KTM690RR pictures ~ keep 'em coming...

    So @poppy ....

What do you think of now you've done some miles on it ?
What annoys you and what would you change.
We're going to build up a couple for some Simpson work next year & your opinion would be appreciated.

I did the Simpson with Winna and poppy on an 11 model 690 with a 2/3 rd hard kit and I was stoked with the way the bike handled in the desert and heaps of bush riding in SEQ can't fault it did about 8000 km before I sold it with no issues kit was solid as a rock.
I had a safari tank on it originally and absolutely hated it they unbalance the bike, and IMHO the hardkits make the bike feel more stable and handle better.

Just bought a brand new 690 and going with a full kit this time. (Poppy's twin :D) if I could only keep up with him!

G'day Richard, mate to be honest, i am really enjoying the whole package. The kit itself has meet all my requirements for what i was looking for, fuel range is excellent, having the screen is proving to be a great asset with the wind and riding comfort covering long days. Everything comes apart quickly and easily for servicing and access. As Mick has mentioned regarding balance, i am really surprised at how well balanced the bike is whether loaded or not, loaded with gear and fuel apart from being obviously heavier, the way the bike feels and handles doesn't really change. I have had the suspension played with and also extended 25mm. Headlights work well, i might change those just so i have a more white type light , my eyes aren't what they used to be and they dont get any better at night so a whiter type light will work better for me. I can get away with them, just a preference. All nav tower is also rock solid so far. Looking forward to getting a new gps to add to it. Come to think about it, i cant remember a bolt coming loose on the bike yet. I might also add a rade tank under the seat yet for another 6ltrs. So far i have had 620klms from what is on the bike with 30ltrs and had approx 5ltrs left was as far as i went before fueling again. Pulled the fuel pump out to see what the filter looked like and it was clean as a whistle. Not sure if this is beacuse of removing it from the rear tank ot not. Have seen a few with a lot of black shit in them, not sure if it comes from the tanks or just dirty fuel, but both mine and Darrens were clean and still looked new. Hope i have answered some of your questions.

Edit : re low pipe, i know there not everyone's cup of tea but i have had no issues with it melting boots or heat and it has not in anyway hindered ground clearance. Ohhh, im not keen on Lantana dragging across the screen, that almost makes me tear up.
