    Ok I have a 60csx.
Got the power cord cigarette plug deal
Want to power it to battery just run it to the battery with a female plug wired to battery and plug in riiiiight???

Can I cut the male end off and go right to batt??

It sounds silly to ask as I would just do it but just want to make sure....

    Thx...

Why not save that one and use it in your car for practice and buy a wire off -ebay?

But to answer your question : Yes, I hardwired mine to the battery with a 2 amp fuse in line

Disclaimer; I'm full of it, use the info at your own risk!
The 60Cx has 2 power connector options, the mini USB and the big round plug. The mini USB has a step-down transformer in-line, sometimes in the male cig plug in which case cutting it off and wiring to the battery will fry the GPS.
The round plug if memory serves can input up to 36V DC and can be wired directly into 12V DC.

Disclaimer was very wise. Step-down transformer for DC is a very new invention and not yet written up in the text books, so I am not familiar with it.

There are several ways to get 5 Vdc from 12Vdc but none of them are good in the vibration & wet of a motorcycle and the USB plug is a hand granade on a motorcycle.

    Only real choice is:

I ran my 60cx directly off the battery of two bikes, a KLR and a KTM 450. I just tapped into a wire coming from the battery up near the headlight and into a ground wire. I cut the cigarette lighter connector off the wires to the round connector to the GPS unit and put SAE two conductor connectors on each end.

I still use that setup with my Montana.

I also use the same connector to charge the battery.

In a word yes. At least that is what I would recommend. I never tried it, but I have heard of a lot of people having problems trying to use the USB power port. These were on units that did not have the round connector.

Use the round plug. Cut off the cig adapter, or like someone else said save it for your car and buy a bare end cable, and put a 2 amp fuse inline. Works like a charm. Mines been that way for 5 years. I also have a hard wired cable in my truck, wired up the same way.

I cut the opposite end off the round four pin connecter and put on an SAE plug so as to use it with the fused battery tender connecter I already had running from the battery. No problems!
