Well how was it?:huh
Any additional details on this place? What exactly is it? I'm interested.
It's located just off of I-85, near SC-18. It is a vacant industrial lot that the locals are using for mud bogging and 4 wheeling. It's really rough from all of the mud play, and wasn't large enough to keep me interested for more than 10 minutes.
I'm also sure it's not exactly legal, I would advise to ignore this spot.
If you enjoy riding up to the mountains with your family to choose and cut your tree, one of my neighbors is giving them away for free. There's a variety of sizes, & pretty nice shapes. I didn't see any "Charlie Brown" trees.
They are on Wards Branch Rd, just off Hwy 321. About 20 minutes West of Boone. Bring a saw and wear boots or shoes with good grip, because it's steep. I got our tree a couple days ago, there were a few hundred (200-400?). Nobody was there, but a sign said "Be careful it's steep, take all you need for friends & family. God bless."
They aren't bundled, so are bulky. Need a pick-up, or maybe you can wrap it up in a tarp?
Ho! Ho! Ho!
May fit on the back of a KLR
Nice weather today...

Speaking of Maple Sally, name that year:
I believe that's where we met, was it not?
....getting close to 5 years ago now.....
Iron Mtn. was actually in pretty good shape. The horse trails less so.
Yes it was, I met up with you and Gaston Gagne. 5yrs ago sounds about right...dang!
Just moved back to Western NC. I hope to get to meet some of you for a ride. Merry Christmas to all and I hope 2014 is full of many memorable rides!!!
Rode all of the seasonal trail between 16 and 21 today. Some excellent traction - some sheet ice(not too much). About 3-4 significant trees down across the trail. BBQ @ Shirley's was good as usual.
Sweet! It was a good day for it.
Would love to catch up with you next time you head up this way, looks fun.
I remember that ride, that's where I met most of that group. I'm standing there but bike is not in photo.
I was in Asheville to pick up some parts on Saturday and remembered to bring my growler. I stopped by the Wedge to get it filled, only to be told that they only sell their "pre-filled" growlers now. They told me that they have a "special machine" to fill the growlers. Has the Wedge become too successful?
I did notice a new patio area under construction out front.
I got my growler filled at Asheville Brewing over on Coxe Ave. with a nice IPA
I also went by the new Moto Vicious location, but since I was in a car, not on a bike I did not go in.
Just curious but was this a Wedge labeled growler? Until recently it was illegal to fill a growler unless it was from the same brewery. This has changed recently but I don't know the specifics. Additionally many breweries prefer to prefill the growlers using a counter pressure filler as it makes the growler last much longer. If it was a Wedge growler they should have at least given you credit for returning the original.
