I have an accent. I don't feel the need to misspell words on teh interweb tah makez mah po-eent.

There is only one explanation for it, which is that he/she/it is one of the self-same attention whores he/she/it is so vehemently opposed to.

Also, thank you for the compliment.

    That could be funny if:

    A) I was a pirate, or dressed in the "pirate"costume to which you refer, or

    B) Your post was not spelled like a knick-knack bathroom sign purchased at Cracker Barrel.

Wow. Anybody out riding these days? :-)
I have to run the Ural today to keep the carbs clean. Maybe an HD or GS rider will give me advice....

Yes some advice. Buy something with fuel injection. A Ural is real 1930's German technology so my apologies to the HD crowd. :D

Thanks! Though some do, I could never have a Ural as my only bike.
I suspect FI is coming to the Ural soon to keep up with demand for efficiency and power.

No changes to current models in any way. Change is bad and technology is for Japan some parts of Europe and the USA.

I read that recently. No word yet on power/mpg increase. Interesting times.

Fuel Injection on the 2014 Urals has nothing to do with a power increase - the current Ural engine could not stand much of a power increase. Fuel injection will allow this rather inefficient, air cooled engine to meet current emmission standards - nothing more. Without significant changes to engine design and manufacturing processes any significant increase in power output will certainly drasticly decrease the the life of the current powerplant. You will see some drivability and cold running improvements but those of us who are comfortable with a manual choke carbureted bike really won't care. I personally don't look at FI on a Ural as an improvement, the bike is supposed to be a simple, reliable, fix-on-the-side-of-the-road machine.

    +1
FI is forced upon to meet emission regulations for export permits. And, it takes away the lure of "fix on the side of the road". Could be a deathly dilemma.

However, as with the Royal Enfield bullets, if the software behind the FI is versatile enough to adequately react to a variety of conditions, it will be a reliable ride from start to finish. It should also improve mileage.
But definitely the old habitue / afficionado will miss the daily tuning. The golden age has passed, and the silver age is on its last... :cry

One of the great things about FI on a otherwise simple motor is......it can be removed pretty easily.

Loudest bike I have heard so far is a R1 with about six inches of pipe off the header, no muffler. Passed me on the highway at pretty much redline and scared the crap out of me. Made my ears ring for a minute or two. You could still hear the thing even after he was out of sight.

Not sure where to post this so this thread will have to do.
Riding into work this morning I came up on a 1200GS at a red light, full set of Tourtech cases, and the owner is wearing a Nazi 1/2 helmet!:eek1
