If they can't hear emergency vehicles in their sound proofed cars, they are not going to hear your exhaust either.

If you know the manufacturer of your exhaust you can probably get some quiet baffles to go in there or otherwise see if these guys have one that would fit: http://www.smartpartz.com/.

    Here's a few of mine.

My bride and I in Montana near Polson at a friends house. We had just run through about 10 miles construction an HWY 93, in a rain storm.

Stock mufflers are easy & relatively cheap to find for Harleys as so many take them off & put some kind of aftermarket set up on. Just check places like ebay etc. or even a local Harley shop. I can't tell from your picture if the mufflers are just slip ons or if you have to change out the header pipes as well. It wouldn't be a hard job.

Yea but if the bike is jetted for the louder mufflers, it'l likely run like shit (too rich) if you put the stockers back on. :deal

found some baffles at local bike shop . definitely quieter but louder than I want . feels like more power/torque & running cooler ?
will invest in a nice set of V&H or other soon .
the guy who sold me the baffles was very nice , told me what I really needed to do & explained why the drag pipes are a pos the way I am set up (pre-baffled).
I guess a lot of people think if it's very loud then it must be powerful . not always the case.

I guess someone just wanted to build that Harley dirt bike. A modern 400-450cc has all the power you need plus awesome reliability, sips gas and is light.

This November will be seven years since starting this thread. Great to see the Milwaukee bikes and the great memories they are delivering! Speaking of memories...

Just a few pics from today's ride with my daughter who loves to ride with me, and keeps bugging me to help her get her motorcycle endorsement, and SOON.

Descending the south side of Kenosha Pass she snapped this over my helmet...

No one can say the FLHX isn't a looker. Excuse me while I mop the floor...

OK, with the clouds brooding overhead, and the sun coming out briefly on cue, the lighting is perfect. The road, the peak, the bike, the rocks, and the abandoned homestead complete the setting...

we could start a new harley thread "cheap harley challenge".
found this one on kc craigslist yesterday. called the seller and told him i was about 220 miles away but i'd love to buy it.his very nonchalant, low key reply was "you sound serious, don't haul ass over here and get in a wreck, i'll hold it for you. three hours later i was at his doorstep. got home around midnight 88 flh, s&s motor of unknown displacement. starts, runs, rides shifts out good. runs hard, pulls like a mule. not perfect, but good foundation for what i have planned. clear title.
    the best part, $2500.00 :D

Nice score. Most of the FLHs I see around here are basket cases and they still want $2500. Keep us updated as you make it your own.

I would say you did well. I watch KC craigslist but I missed that one. Now ride the wheels off it.

Just picked it up this past Saturday, my first new bike. Love it so far.

Anyone have any idea how loud the V&H exhaust is?
