Hatcher Pass June 25 last year
The Mrs. and I just tried to go that route yesterday and saw someone skiing down the road... No idea when it will be opening...
It typically doesn't open until July 1.
If I wasn't heading out of town this weekend I would take my rock skis and shorts and do some spring skiing up there. Sounds like they plan to have the road open by the 4th of July.
Hope the current heat wave will melt the snow fast :)
Anybody been up there to muck up yer bikes?
FlyRescue Ben went up and over on Wed and said the road was great.
Have fun, Mark H.
True. Roads were in great shape, I had first tracks up after the road crew finished grading it, so it was a little squirrely in places, especially on the Willow side.
Took the Multi up the pass today in a light rain with the street tires. It was a little greasy in spots, but made it up and back with no drama.
It was a beautiful day once the sun came out.
Just a heads up for folks riding around Ak. The pass is not open yet: they have dump truck coming in and out and the gate is locked I talked to a ranger there and its going to open on July 4th
Pass still closed today, and worse yet, the Archangel Road is closed at the bridge. No idea what that is about.
I was just up there with XXme on Sunday and thought Archangel seemed kinda short...
Now ADN has an article about Archangel closure. Seems it might be a while. Dang.
We dont need no stinking bridge!

That's right! I rode it again today. Just go up from Willow and back to Willow for twice the fun.
Hatchers is open!! Looking down on Summit Lake right now!!!
Cool! The 511 website said they were going to open it today;guess they weren't BS'ing. My neighbor and I are going to ride through on Saturday. Staying home tonight/tomorrow, and let the traffic slacken a bit.

The bridge was deemed unsafe for cars to come thru. So it will be closed until they fix it. You can ride between the cement blocks and theres a perfect camping spot just on the other side of the bridge.
Hey were you in Seward on the 4th?
