A few friends are thinking of making a run to the trails 15 hrs away. We never have been down that way.
    is it worth the drive?
what are some of the high lights? must see?
    stuff to stay away?
camping most likly but cheap houses would work?

thanks for any insight, we'll be going probably May or so...:freaky

been there,,,,,,6hr drive for me. Not sure I would drive 15hrs for it. Its a lot of fun if you have enough time off to justify the long drive. Too many cheap lodging choices to consider a tent.

Rockhouse trail system is where we usually come up from FL and is well worth the drive. You should plan on at least 3 days to get a good feel for the trails. I stayed at the browning fork trail house, great owners and they really cater to you. Everyone Ive ever met there is soooo happy to have the tourism dollars. Ive been to 4 of the 7 trail systems and they are all good. Gilbert has the most resources as far as food, lodging and such.

15 hours? I'd have to stay for at least 5 days. But I do love the system. Rockhouse and Buffalo Mtn are awesome.

    :rofl

I wish the Gopros did a better job showing steepness. Some of those trails are way steeper than they look and those rocks are unforgiving lol.

That looks great, I'm more into the single track stuff but if its new to me I'll ride almost anything. Would like to hook up with some people going down sometime to check it out. I ride a Gas Gas 2 smoker .

I'm going w/ a group toward the end of April. (Many of us will be on smokers and smaller four strokes).
    I'll send you a pm.

To the original poster. Yes, I feel its worth the drive. I've never been able to come down for more then 2.5 days of riding. If you are staying for 5 days, you might want to look at a location where you can hit mulitple trail locations.
(Buffalo Mtn has some nice single track, make sure you include that)

I'v down loaded a pile of maps to the area, we'll propbably coming down with a 24ft toyhauler rv. all our bikes are dual sports. a 1/2hr slab run won't kill us.... so is it better to rent a house or drag the rv?

is this more a small bike park or... were running 525/530/500/690/950A

Not putting you down, shipwreck, but . . . have you checked out http://www.trailsheaven.com/ ?

    ---------------------------

Recently, the Pinnacle Creek, Indian Ridge, and Pocahontas Trail Systems are now interconnected; you couldn't ride 'em all in your five-day visit.

PM if you'd like a lodging review near those trails; actually right on one.

I live 3 hrs or so away. Its good fun, its a different world there, like stepping back in time. I've ridden way better stuff closer to home, but not so much riding in one place. No way I would drive 15 hours to go there, but that's just me. I'd leave the 950 at home.

YouTube search: "hatfield McCoy rockhouse 157" and "199". I don't think Graham Jarvis himself would be comfortable riding those trails.

Alot of the green and blue trails would be doable on the big KaTooM twin. But alot of the single track would be really hard. I dont want to say impossible but would be impossible for me. The 690 would also be tough on a few of he more extreme single track sections.

I've been to the web site, its one of google's top 10 searches.... I may contact you once the collective makes up our mind...

I want a holiday of riding but not a holiday of struggling... I don't mind a challenge that makes a day but not all day... if that all makes sense. Last may we all went to Moab Utah, great time had by all but it was a 45hr drive across the continent.. That drive was really hard for us old timers.
