Anyone ever rode the trail system? Is it worth the drive up from Atlanta? More for the 4-wheeler crowd or motorcycle crowd.:ear It looks like a pretty sweet deal to me. Just looking for some feed back on which trail or trails to adventure into.:evil

the trail system is a real blast. well marked, good maps, good times.
all types of trails, easy , medium, and diffcult.there are some motorcycle only trails that are very challenging. lots of quads, but good for trail bikes
not big gs type bikes. well worth a visit.

I haven't been there but I've done a little research because I want to go. Plan on riding on weekdays, apparently weekends are an ATV traffic jam. There was a ride report bt SSB on the Hatfield McCoy system not long ago.

My daughter has a friend, her father--------takes quads and bikes there from Maryland, with his sons, camps out, and has a blast. It is a very "rider friendly" area. Very helpful people. He goes back every year.

My buddies and I have taken a 4-5 day trip down every year for the past 5 years. it is about a 7 hour drive and well worth it. I recommend staying in the town of Gilbert (Rockhouse trail) where the folks are extremely dirtbike friendly. You can ride through town to get to the trailhead and even get a wave from the local police. It is somewaht surreal.
As far as the trails they are extremely well marked with green, blue and black trailmarkers indicating difficulty. Yes, there can be some quad traffic, but mostly on the easier trails. If you stick to the blue and black or singletrack the quads really aren't an issue. It is definitely worth the trip, you won't be disappointed.

It's a cool place to ride. Rode my KTM400MXC. VERY rocky. Cast wheels need NOT apply. Killer views. Rural mountainous location. Allow extra time to get there.

I was wary of the 2-way trails though. :eek1 Was dead quiet on Friday/Sunday during the Winter when I was there. Price wasn't free, but worth it. They'll mail you a pass too. Can recommend if you are NOT a speedster.

Much of the cycle singletrack gets flooded out (clay) when it rains alot.

I went down last year for the first time. I went with friends that have gone two years prior. We are going back again this year. Worth the 10 hour ride from Upstate NY. We usually go mid-May, before Memorial day. No problem with traffic weekday or weekend.

Thanks for pointing out this place. Think I'll go about mid April or so. Looks to be 429 miles from me.

Thanks for posting the pics NJ-Bill. That looks like some good fun. Hopefully the first 3 pics are marked easiest. I like the lack of gravel in these pics.:D
