Welcome to the inaugural "Hattah Burger Run" through the Murray - Sunset National Park, Victoria.

Bazzz (XTE600), Rick (Dakar 650) & Masterbrewer (TDMKym) + Tony (Suby cold beer carrier) met at Paruna Sth Aus around 11am to head over to Hattah Vic intending to watch the Hattah Desert Race.

We had been advised the previous day that Paruna didn't have any petrol, so we were fully loaded with an extra 10 litres of fuel each. The ride intending to become a pre trial for the Ulysses Adventure Riders trip to Winton Qld in September.

As the general store was also shut, we snacked on a muesli bar or two and headed on our ride.

However ???????????....hunger got the better of us during the days ride and we were promised, by a so called local, a delicious burger was waiting for us at Hattah.

Although the intersections were straight cross roads on the map, they were in fact off set with no indication whether they were to the left or right

This section was fun to ride

Round the world at Hattah, but no burgers.

As we didn't depart Paruna until 11.30, then to Hattah after 4pm via Pheeney's Track, we decided to head back into the park, collect enough firewood for a big bon fire and camp at Rocket Lake.

We could only guess that this was the rebuilding of the Trojan Horse

Absolutely fantastic night at Rocket Lake campsite.....not too cold...very little frost and plenty of cold beer, red wine & port.

Luckily Tony had failed to break the Champagne Home Brew bottles in the esky over some of the interesting terrain at times, although he reported that the esky had bounced higher than the back seat in the Suby on the odd occasion

The next day after breakfast we headed out on the track around Rocket Lake

    What did you call this?

The only track north out of Rocket Lake................steep & sandy!!!!

    Bazzz was having a ball

    Race ya up the hill?

    Looked too easy

    Com'on guys that's not fair!

After no burgers at Hattah, our hunger was finally sated

The sign on the wall was quite fitting for some of us.

To finish, here is the view from our faithfull cold beer carrier (there is no sound)

Looking forward to creating perhaps an annual event: "The Hattah Burger Run".

Good Report! I'm wondering what brand your support vehicle is? I like that high mounted air filter!

Great stuff fellas, i'm looking fwd to coming along for another ride soon, last one I did was The Bakery Run around the Fleuriu Peninsula (excuse spelling).

I have riden some of those farm access roads through the hills on the way to Sedan/Swan Reach & they certainly are fun.

    Good reports & photos too.

    Cheers, Sol..

Nice country. Most of the sand sections look fairly firm, due to some earlier rain no doubt ? (just the way I like to see sand :D )

    Hi Masterbrewer,
We waited at the start of the Pheeney's track until approx 11am as I was sure you guys would have been there by then. We continued through the Sunset NP pulling up at most junctions and getting out the 4wd, expecting to hear the TDM coming through in the distance. Obviously not, as it sounds you must have got away a little later than we had discussed. Anyway we made it through to Hattar in time to see my mate and Goldfinger do Prologue, and watch the race the following day. Once again, a great ride report and photo's, hope to catch up again soon.
p.s had 20ltrs of unleaded on board just in case.

    Cheers :freaky All balls

    Hi Ballsy

Don't know where the time went.........we departed Woodside 7.45am.....bitumen straight to Walkers Flat......due east as the crows fly........departed Paruna around 11.15am.......must have been your dust we saw!!!

Passed dbw, ktm400 & his mate munching on a muesli or two just into the park, then saw no one until the Hattah shop.

Thanks for thinking of us with carrying the fuel, but we decided to carry everything ourselves as a trial run for The Ulysses Adventure Riders trip to Winton Qld departing 2nd September. The loaded bikes made for an interesting time or two on the tracks, but overall not too difficult. (editorial licence on the report & piccies of course!!:evil )

    Cya soon

    Cheers

    Hi masterbrewer,

Great report. We are planning to be in the Hattah, Sunset Country and Wyperfield areas on the Queens Birthday weekend. You have certainly got us all fired up for the trip.

We might catch you there some time in the future.

    Cheers
