But there is another contest and now another ride.:clap

A friend of mine is coming to Maryland this week end from Alaska. So I wanted to tell you about a semi-planed ride we are doing.
First, some back ground, Beard team USA is having its' Nationals (competition) in Lancaster, PA. October 8th. You may have just guessed it... He's a Beardo and a rider.
Second, He (Doug) has rented a Geezer-glide from Harley D of Fredrick. 10am Friday is the pick-up. The plan, if you can call it that, is to meander up 15 towards Gettysburg, find lunch, poke about and that is about it. Maybe hit the York HD plant and at least a stop at the Shoe house off 30. Since he's on a rental-bike we have to avoid dirt roads. If anyone wants to join, Shoot me a PM.
    I can't promise a grand adventure but we'll try.

Wish I was off and still had my beard to go riding with y'all... had to shave it to prevent setting myself on fire as I learn to weld this final semester (metal sculpture class)

That is an awesome shot of Miss Liberty. I've seen her out there and have taken glances out at the park on the other side of the river but have never stopped. I know, my loss.

Wish I saw this earlier I used to commute from SoMD to OIL CITY every weekend, discovered some really nice backroads up through Altoona to Dubois.

Surprised you missed the space capsule at the DQ just South of Franklin.

A little history: that area used to have the most percapita millionaires in the world. The theater you captured in your pictures hosted world premiers for movies and new talent that are almost all done in Hollywood now.

There used to be street cars, and upon investigation you can find evidence of them, the cobblestones, and in Titusville(home of the Heisman) the yellow brick roads.

They used to transport pull from places like pothole in huge wooden vats on writhe railcar poor barge, and in the past there was a huge oil spill up river of Oil City, when the spill reached town it caught fire and burnt down the majority of the lower city. They is also an underground"mall" under downtown, where people could go from business to business and not have to cross the dirt streets or deal with the mud or horse traffic.

It's pRetty much a craphole now as both Quaker State and PennZoil abandoned them.

I wish you had as well....SPACE CAPSULE! :eek1:norton Love it :lol3!
I missed Franklin altogether, last time I rode west on 322 to 257 north through Seneca.

It's that time of the year, I'm going back. This will be the WPBMA's fifth annual competition and I don't want to miss it. Been working on a ride plan since this years event has been moved (again) into September, last year was in mid December. Not sure if I should do a all new RR or just keep tacking on things here.

Last year's contest was moved into December, due to time constraints and snow worry I caged it :cry.
Practically a redo! Two years since the first Have Beard, Will Travel Ride Report, the 2012 WPBMA's annual contest was being held in September.

Like the last time I made this motorcycle trip the MD ToR tag was out west. I can't resist. Once again the best route is neither straight or the swiftest :lol3.

Hello Bumble Bee, the week-end before was their last open week for the season. The keepers took pity on me, mostly because they hadn't taken the "Come in We're Open" sign down, I was alone and the sun was going down :eek1. Glad I didn't call ahead :D. They were so nice as I was setting up my tent they brought wood over to me so I wouldn't have to carry it down to the site.

The rain was gone, the air crisp and all was quiet and the sunlight was threading it's rays through the trees. All was beautiful and eerie at the same time.

She feels good, she knows she's looking fine.
I'm so proud to know that she is mine.
