There is a Pre-Party for the contest, Friday night.

The Plan: Taking an extra day off is not in the cards so no "welcome" for me. Besides I'd miss this.
A morning visit to Bob's then south. From Baltimore, Fredericksburg is roughly the halfway point to Richmond. A stop at Morton's BMW is in order. They have an event planned that day as well.
While I am not planning to attend, I did want to post this in case it might grab someone's interest.
Anyway, pictures of the ride down and stops along the way to come. If any of you FF's are going, please send me a pm. Should be a great week-end!
Your Harley is a good looking bike,so what did you decide between the Beemer and the DRZ?I just stumbled on your thread here and I enjoy it,just fun my kinda trips wandering.
Thank you 8lives. I've decided to throw some money at the BMW; knobby tires, fork seals, and next thing to invest in, suspension upgrades. Keeping an eye out for a used DRZ is not off the table .
Lotsa good choices!I like to mix it myself too!
Didn't win, didn't place but had a great time.
Haven't looked at this thread since April 2013... That ain't right .
Just got home from the Western Pennsylvania Beard and Mustache Alliance's 10th Anniversary Beard and Mustache Contest in (as always) Oil City, PA.
Last minute decision to go means no photos or meandering on the way there.
Mater of fact it was a race to get there riding into a break in a storm system crossing PA. We meet in the middle, half of my 5 hour ride in the rain and very windy. Not my first storm by any means but I only had 300 miles of riding on my new-to-me 2014 K1600gt. It may be broken in but I'm still getting used to it. Before the sun dropped the temperature did, 40*. My Klim kept me dry, the vest and fleece pullover kept me mostly warm, next time bring heated jacket. Heated grips and seat are an amazing invention.
Got into town. I was colder than I thought. Realized this while making stupid mistakes, dropping keys, gloves, earplugs. Checked into local hotel and took hot shower. Ran over the contest at Billy's, all ready in progress BUT I made it!
This is Billy.
What Billy's is known for...
Many of my "Contest" pictures were not worthy, sorry.
And the ones that did turn out... You know the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" ? Well it might take a few thousand words to describe what was captured. Let's just end this post with there was lots of beer.
Here is the beauty of Oil City.
A view of the Allegheny River.
The Latonia Theater renovated in 2007, converted into a ballroom/conference center. Originally built in the late 1920’s. It was operated by Warner Brothers. The last movie shown at the Latonia was in 1969.
There was interest in using the theater as a live performance showcase, but that didn't work out. It then spent time as a furniture showroom in 1972.
Big Sky in a small town.
Little diner... Big Breakfast!
Fall foliage shot.
Another version of this shot is now my FB cover photo. I know ...
Added 621.3 miles to the ODO. Love the ride, the K1600 is like an X-wing fighter. So much power and the delivery so smooth, I found myself moving at speeds I normally wouldn't press. A few times I wondered why some cars were going ridiculously slow only to realize that it was me going way too fast. I began to think of the speed limit as dropping to sub-light speed.
Great ride report! I missed this one initially, so I appreciate the update. Love the writing and the photos and the purty bike. The contests look like they're a hoot and Jack Passion seems like quite a character Please keep it updated!
Hell I thought you were in Europe or somewhere.
Wow Mick, you get around!
Yes, I was. Glasgow last week end. I'm living the Rock-N-Roll life style.
@CaptnSlo, I appreciate you read it and the compliments .
Oil City was my first, 10 years ago. All others have been compared to it. Many are much bigger some have been as much fun but none live in my heart the way OC does.
