I'm looking for a place to rent ADV bikes on Maui. All I can find is Harleys. I'm mostly going to be riding on the road unless someone has some cool trails they can show me. It'd be great if I could find maybe a GS to rent but I'm open to anything.

If you own a bike and are looking to make some cash by renting it out I'm open to that too.

I'll be there July 30th to June 8th.

Like the two guys above, I'll also be in Maui but at the end of June/start of July.

I see that Maui Dual Sport rentals is closed and as well can't see anything other than Harley rentals.

If anyone has some advice, I'd be interested. Looking for a ride for a day or two.

    Thanks,

    Cord

Aloha Inmates. On my second weeks holidays here in Maui. I checked every rental place on the Island and except for a Ninja 250, it's either Harley's or scooters, that's it! One place said it is way too expensive to insure dual-sports. I also asked about Wee-Stroms but not enough people ask about them. I did see one cool bike though, a Honda Pacific Coast.

Thanks for the info, Howie. I won't put a whole bunch of time into finding a ride when I'm there I guess.

I bet you could have a pretty fun time riding a Ninja 250 to the top of Haleakala and back. Time yourself! Do it a few times...:clap:clap:clap

So, it's looking like I may have a job on Kaua'i soon. :clap I have a BMW F650GS that I'd like to send over from the Seattle (Woodinville) area.

For those of who who have shipped bikes over, how did you do it and how much did it cost? Especially those of you from the Pacific Northwet.

    Mahalo nui loa!

The cheapest shipping is probably through Pasha. But you have to get the bike to San Diego. They charge $554 to Hilo on the Big Island if you have it strapped to a skid. Add $100 if they have to strap it to a skid of theirs. I haven't found any decent way to ship just a motorcycle from your area to Hawaii. If you are renting, say, a 20 foot container, maybe you could strap it into that.

Thanks Mommer. Called today, left a message. Looking at the Buell 900. I'll PM ya for a meet and beer or something. Love to have a peep along for the loop as I haven't done it before. Am looking forward to the adventure though. Funny I've been to Maui a dozen times and never rented a bike. This is going to be a blast. Hope to see ya soon. John

    Mahalos!

Da wife is staying behind for a while, so would probably hold off on a container for a while. I plan to travel lightly, renting a furnished place for at least the first year. So the bike would be the only thing I need shipped anytime soon.

Thanks. I'll ask around the area and see what else I can find out.

We've shipped a lot of bikes through DHX (Dependable Hawaiian Express). I've also used ABF but they have a terminal in Honolulu. Not sure about Kauai but they can forward I'm sure.

Mahalo. I'll give them a try. I got a quote from ABF a year ago, when I though I was headed to 'Oahu.

OK apparently everyone is hurting over there. The only thing I could get was a HD soft tail. So at least I've got something to ride. I'll PM ya when I get settled friday the 23rd. Thanks John

    Aloha, Hawai'i !

i am in the market of buying some new tires for my DR 650 and I am having a hard time trying to find any place that stocks or even orders half way decent stock.

any of you riders used any shop on the islands? or any mainland shop willing to sell and ship?

    thanks!

Did you try Hawaii Rides up in Wahiawa? 651 Kilani Avenue Wahiawa, HI 96786 (808) 621-6686, http://www.hawaiiridesinc.com/

There's also South Seas, 3149 North Nimitz Highway, Honolulu, HI 96819, (808) 836-1144 They have a good bunch of guys in the parts and accessories area.

Where have you tried that you haven't been able to get tires? I would think that all three of the above would either have, or could get, tires for your bike.

I tried the honda dealership on nimitz and south seas. i spoke with the parts clerks and they were all courteous and helpful, but the majority of the inventory was not available or $$. I am looking for some Avon or Shinko tires for my DR. I am gonna try and call Carl @ Procycle and see if i can get some shipped. I'll give a call to Hawaii Rides & Competition Dirt.

    thanks for the tip, Ken
