You guys are welcome to use the facilities, so to speak, but it would make for a long oil ride. It doesn't need to be all on interstate though. I took a route along Hwy 26 to (eventually) Laramie on my way to Steamboat for the rally and also on my way to Montrose for a meeting. Now we are talking a long-arsed day then tho...

If you and Doug want another rider to tag along this wknd lmk, I'll spin on down and join you.

I got my bike back from Doug last sat. The new chain and sprockets solved my chatter. I let it go waaayyyyy too long. My cs bolt was damaged and sheared off when they removed the front sprocket. Glen had a blast getting that sorted I bet. Also got my dual usb installed.

I've got a 2 place bike trailer. No way to get 3 on it though. My sheep trailer would easily haul 3 bikes but would be a bit much for Orange's jeep to tow

Got the Rade tank installed on the 690, got the skid plate installed and got the tune put in it for the new air setup.

@vipers , what's the fuel range on your 500? Will need to make sure we know where we have to get fuel

I'll have the Supertanker, so all he needs is a bottle. :D

Make that two supertankers, though I plan on going half full when it won't cause range problems, just to try to avoid blowing an O-ring on the fall recovery equipment (aka gut busting). The tricky thing is I just turned off my O2 sensors..,no telling what my max range is now.

I deleted my O2 sensor some time ago with TuneECU, and then I removed the unit in the exhaust and plugged the hole. I think it removes one more variable from the bike, but I didn't notice any issues at high altitude.

The 690 has a switch under the seat that normally controls throttle response only. I've converted mine to control fuel mix only. The last time I was in Colorado, I had to switch over to my "lean" setting to make the bike run perfectly, but that was the only change. It probably would have been fine at the richer setting, but I was getting comments that I was smelling like the Exxon Valdez, so I made the change.

In Iowa I get around 45mpg mixed driving so about 100miles tops. In Iowa with my 15' 690 I got 45-55mpg and in Colorado I got 60-70. Hopefully I get real good mpg with 500 in colorado. Any others have that experience in Colorado or at high elevation?

I've never looked at mpg in Colorado. You lose quite a bit of power because of the altitude, and if an injected bike is working properly, it will significantly trim the fuel to match the lack of air. I would guess that any fuel savings I could have seen were matched with increased use of the right wrist.

I'm going to be staying in ouray 1 or 2 nights i believe so I'll look into the lodging asap. Gona kinda wing some stuff :)

Did you do the "evo1" (I think it's called this) remap engineman? I Did that with the evo1 lid and wings. Awesome midrange! Had the same results with the 500 remap, very noticeable power inscrease and better overall fueling.

@engineman no luck on my end finding parking in/around Gypsum so far. The place I checked out will only allow RV parking. As always, we could park the trailer in Golden behind my step-mom's place and then ride out. I'm also checking with various self-storage places in and around Gypsum. I'll let you know what turns up.

What is the plan leaving? We could do the same as we did last time if you like. That seemed to work OK.

@vipers, my weekend got screwed up. The wife unit reminded me that we have Mellencamp tickets Saturday night, and we have to drop the kid off at Simpson College on Sunday. I'm only going to be available some time after 3pm on Sunday, so pretty limited.

This should work for parking. It's the secure lot at a towing company.

Probably do the same thing for the trip. I'll leave here around 5, get to your place around 7, put my trailer on your jeep and head west.
