I spent the weekend riding Eastern Utah. Truly breathtaking.

Man, I've ridden my FLHRc in over 15 countries, and Utah had some of the most beautiful riding that I've ever seen.

    A couple quick snaps:

I forgot the cardinal rule in sand - never look down, oops. Rider error, overall, the bike's pretty capable in the sandy patches.

I was re-reading your south American odyssey last night and wishing I had the nuts to abuse my bike the way you do. Every time I hear about people fussing about re-sale value and "high mileage" and how HDs aren't riders' machines I think of your Road Kind, river crossings and sliding down the road.

I admire where you have rode your FLHRC truly impressive, hope you keep posting.. Why does your bike looks small next to you, or is it an illusion?

Last Friday I traded my 08 Fat Bob with 10K miles for a new 12 RK standard. It rained most of the weekend but by this time tomorrow I will have knocked out my 500 mile break in riding back and forth to work (8 mi each way) and can run it up past 60 mph. This bike is so much smoother going down the road than Fat Bob was. I thought this burly behemoth would be a chore riding around town but I was wrong. It is a bit more of a struggle for some parking maneuvers but the ride makes up for that. Looking forward to Sat when I'll ride to Destin for lunch then back home so will be a good 300ish mile day. There is nothing I've discovered about his bike that I don't like.

My '06 Road King FLHRI, purchased new in Santa Barbara, California, presently resides on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia, has been around the country several times, and is just a few miles shy of 60,000 mi (97,000 km) as of last Sunday's ride in the rain. My fifth Harley, and one of the best motorcycles I've ever owned. The other four H-D's are long gone, but this one's going with me. :D

ReferJohn, you're welcome, and thanks for starting this thread. Like, are we an ADV "gang" now,?? :D

Here's a pic, and some caption material, of my RK last Sunday, taken in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, entitled: "Got Wet. The End."

    ***********************************

Me 'n D managed to shake house chores this weekend long enough to knock out a hundred miles yesterday afternoon, some of it up on the Parkway, until the impending weather (we'd been watching it slide in on the radar all morning) chased us down to the Piedmont. We ran into our buddy Cowboy at the Lone Star, had ourselves an early executive supper, and crossed our fingers that we could get home in the dry. The place was full of bikes when we got there, but they were all smarter than us (including Cowboy) and got out while the gettin' was good.

Not much of a ride in sum (although some is always better than none), and I took a grand total of two photos in a hunnert miles. This is the better of the two:

All alone at the Lone Star...

Yep, that's all ya get. The End! :D

Here's my 2007 Police RK. It was never put into service, the owner of the dealership had it for a year and put 151 miles on it, then put it on the showroom. He does that a good bit here, he'll farkle one out, ride it to a few poker runs or something to show it off, then put in on the showroom. I almost sold it last week, glad I didn't now.

Here's a few pictures from yesterday, I pulled everything off and threw the windshield on. I think I'm leaving it like this for a while, I was having fun riding around without the extra weight handing off the bike.

Does anyone have any handlebar suggestions? It came with the wide and low 'beach bars', which I didn't like the feel of. My arms were too far apart, I felt like a kid riding a grown-ups bike. The ones on there feel fine, but I think they don't look right. When I ordered them they looked a lot different in the pictures. Maybe just buy a black set of stock ones, I don't know.
