You should definitely do the Bay of Islands. Both sides are beautiful, but on the northside there are a couple of options to avoid backtracking. You can take dirt roads from the bay of islands up to Bonne Bay. Personally, I'd go out to Cox's Cove, and take the trail from there. You'll pass by old man's pond, and pop out juust north of Bonne Bay Big Pond. Great ride.
Seeing as you're already in Deerlake, maybe you can do it in reverse.

Finally booked my ferry. I'll be arriving in Argentia on Saturday morning then leaving from Port aux Basque Tuesday night. A bit of a whirlwind trip but I'm running out of time. I guess this means I'll miss meeting you skibum :( but if there's anyone else that wants to raise a glass with a fat old woman from the far west hit me up.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I was in town all weekend as one of the organizers for the Craft Beer Attraction https://www.craftbeerattraction.ca.

Sitting in Boston airport on my way to Raleigh right now. Sorry to miss you, hope you're having fun. Safe travels.

If you need to service your bike I am in Moncton, you will pass right by here. I should be home.
