For those in the Central/Western part of Maryland looking for a local shop to buy from JT Motorsports in Frederick is running a special on these tires and the TKC 80's from Continental. They came in cheaper than a few online sellers I found. I normally don't shop JT's but if I'm going to use this as a test tire I'm looking to not break the bank. Pretty much every other shop in town and one in Hagerstown gave me a Heidewhatsits? :rofl

Heading in today after work most likely to order one up for my Versys rear and will be pairing it with a TKC on the front. I'll verify my price after I go in to make sure.

SlowPhil was running a set of K60s on his trip to Usushia, and just had them changed somewhere in Bolivia or Peru. His statement is here:

He's running a DL650, loaded for travel and has been on the road since the first of August. Pretty good report on the longevity of these tires if you ask me.

I ha e a set of these on my Vstrom1000 and have about the same wear after only 3000 miles. I'm very happy with the overall performance but thought I'd get a lot more miles out of a rear. In the K60's defense I live and ride in western NC where the roads are highly abbrasive and I weigh 300 and ride it like I stole it. I also tend to power slide it a lot on gravel roads which is 20-30 % of my riding. I am very impressed with the on road grip for a tire with such aggressive tread.

They are on 355 next to the El Mariachi. I'll swing by tomorrow. Had to work late and had to get home to take my youngest girl to basketball.

Can't remember if I've posted in this thread. Here's mine when I replaced it at 6,500 miles.
I couldn't be more impressed having never had a tire last that long. Needless to say
    I put on another K60.

These look like a tractor tire when they get a few miles on them.
How do they handle/feel on the road when they flatten out like that?

I have a TKC up front and they handle just like any other tire for me,but I'm not real aggresive.

Took the TKC/K60 combo out for a gravel ride last weekend.Did about 30-40 miles of steep/loose/rutted gravel roads and at street pressures the tires worked awsome!!.

And this is what happens when you try the same roads with street tires !!

Hey, do you have any experience with a DL650 to compare with your NC? Looking to get the wife another bike and the NC700X is on the list. I've ridden quite few bikes with 17inch front off tarmac and I really like the DL650's 19 inch front better. She presently has an old VT500 and it's 18inch wheels along with light weight really make her happy. In contrast, I couldn't give her my DL650.

I traded in a DL1000 for the NCX and never looked back.I did alot of offroad with the DL and I like the 17" better than the 19" front. On the kind of offroad I do ( dirt, gravel and mud ROADS ) the wider 17" front feels more stable/planted with the TKC.
The NCX will probably feel even lighter than the FT because of the low CG,and she could get 70-80mpg off road.

Those K60s don't look like they have much of a round profile. Can you actually lean the bike with them or is it like falling off a cliff?

Nothing like the feeling of falling off when leaning on TKC's. I'm removing my first set of K60's after about 7000 miles. The rear is going strong (I have the 150/17 with the big middle strip). The front is shot and frankly has been for 2000 miles or so (rideable but ugh what an odd ride).

Due to my life containing too much work and way too little fun during the "Heidenau Era" I never took these tires off road. Instead they saw all kinds of Bay Area freeway, which I think might be a form of Dual Sport riding consider how utterly shitty 880 is right now.

This is what I found about these tires (your mileage may vary):
    * extremely squirmy unless they are aired up towards the max PSI
    * have almost no traction on freeway road markings (I like lane-splitting :evil)
    * hunt grooves like nobody's business (maybe that big middle strip on the rear?)
    * Slightly less fun than TKC-80's in corners... they feel less grippy

As a comparison I rode my Husky on my commute route at the weekend, running moderately worn D606's (dual sport knobbies) and I experienced none of the wandering and rut-hunting the K60's were prone too.

I'm going to try Karoo 3's next. I won't be going back to the K60's due their lack of road manners.

Cut some grooves in my rear K60 last weekend to help with wet weather riding .These tire are scary on wet tar snakes . This rear has almost 10,000 miles on it.
