It is 90% weather depended but we move to some new areas with some high altitude flat lands.
I can give (it will be published on the website) the terrain mix end of November per stage with high accuracy.
Definitely more technical and more navigation, but not as rocky as last year for the 60% of the race.
Last winter extreme cold and severe rains is the reason you saw so many little rocks on the roads.
The winter is expected to be colder but dryer.
By the way did you find it hard or not last year??

Was my first navigation rally and hated the navigation and got lost a lot but understand if I want to do these events I need to learn the nav.

Very much enjoyed the rally but a few more difficult bits maybe with longer chicken runs if needed would be good.

    Thanks Lee.

Doctor gave me the green light, my back is ok.
Will meet Torgue Racing on Saturday to talk about Race assistance and I will ask a lot of noob questions :-)

I'm working on fitness and to get some bike time.
Also started to prepare the bike, KTM EXC 450.

    Here a noob question
Rear Wheel : Cush Drive or Normal?
Tires: I have usually Metzeler MCE 6 Days. Do I need something else?
I have a set of Deserts

    Welcome aboard

I'm sure that Martin and Donna at Torque will answer these questions, but here are my thoughts, based on this year's Hellas and Serres rallies on a KTM 520:

There's no need for a cush drive, almost all of the riding is off road. Of course, if you already have one, you could use it, but no need to get one specially for this event

I did this year's Hellas on enduro tyres - Michelin rather than Metzler - and they wore out very quickly (3 tyres in 4.5 days) I changed to Maxxis IT's for the Serres and they were perfect. Desert's will be too hard wearing and lethal if we have rain or snow:eek1

I can echo what Cadman said. We used Maxxis rear tyres this year on the rally (IT) and they did really well. We didnt change tyres until the end of thursday, and then it was only the rear. We used Maxxis IT rear and Metzeler 6 days extreme front, both front and rear with michelin desert mousses.

def no need to go out and buy a cush drive.

I would make sure that you have a water bladder in your pack which can take at least 3 litres and make sure you fill it full again at the service halt.

Dates change for Hellas Rally Raid 2014
Due to Easter season 2014 and Ferry overbooking for these dates, the organization committee decided to change the dates of Hellas Rally Raid 2014 to 6-11 May 2014.
That way all participants of the race will have guaranteed ferry positions and big discounts to enjoy the race with cheap and easy logistics.
Accept our apologies, this decision is based on your better service.

    Thanks Graham, and BigMike
I thought that the Deserts were not the best choice. And I do have a spare wheelset with cush drive of my 660Rally but probably won't bother with it.

One more question in regards to the Maxxis: Desert IT, MX IT or 6001 IT ?
I assume it is the Desert IT you speak of?
And as usual the Swiss Importer has no such tires in his portfolio... just checked
Offroad riding is prohibited in Switzerland and will be punished by death. :deal
Anyways will check with Maxxis UK on the Dirtbikeshow this weekend

Happe, just the normal IT, it comes it 120 only (but the actual true size is closer to 135). A rear Michelin 140 Mousse (code M02) is a perfect fit. The desert IT is too hard really, also they're not imported into the UK, only Germany. I don't like the shape of the knobs on the IT front hence the Metzeler, but the rear is great. I'm going to the DBS on thursday, if you want I can bring you a couple of ITs, we supply them.

I filled in the form an hit submit last Wednesday but haven't heard anything so far.
I'm a bit concerned the old interweb has dropped my application.

Smashing news for Hellas Rally Raid 2014
It is always an honor to accept entries from top competitors in an amateur and fairly new Rally Raid.

But when a living legend joins the race the honor is double.

Heinz Kinigadner and the Kini Team joins Hellas Rally Raid 2014 with a bunch of great competitors in the team.

Andreas Lettenbichler extreme enduro rider known for his performance in Erzberg & Hell's Gate races and Trial rider since 1990 and Karl Kattoch organizer of Erzberg Rodeo among them.

But the team goes on with UTV entries with Heinz himself behind the steering wheel of a Polaris RZR, along with his son Hannes who goes on racing with a UTV, keeping the family tradition alive.

After some thought Hellas Rally Raid 2014 will pay a quick visit to Peloponnese with 3 Selective stages of 300 klm on Day 5 of the race. Peloponnese is one of the most historic Greek areas where Olympic games started.
Scouting started and some awesome parts of the area will be included in the roadbook of 2014 race.
An unexplored canyon, 30klm of mountain top driving and some really soft terrain parts where things will spice up and variety of conditions and terrain mix will satisfy the most demanding.
Stay tuned, more surprises to come.
