    Can someone tell me what the 12mm hexagonal key in the tool kit is used for on the Adventure 990.

    It's for the rear shock, mounts with two 12mm bolts. But other than that I don't know, maybe something else big? Haven't really looked.

    You don't need it to change oil at least I know that much.

    Correct, and if you have the spark plug tool, the 12 mm allen is used with it to remove the rear cylinder plug.

    that bottle opener is actually a handy little torque wrench extension. but it works good for beer too...
