I'll be taking delivery of an R60/5 in a few weeks time, if everything goes to plan.

Its not nearly as nice as the one pictured here but, I'm looking forward to it, none-the-less.

The girlfriend was talking about wanting a scooter for around town and with the budget of a scooter in mind, I started looking around - checking out CB350's, etc and finally settled on this. Waay better than a Honda scooter, IMHO. :deal

Sorry I'm late the the party:freaky, I just discovered this thread...

I got this '71 about 6 months ago and have been fixing what little needed done. Currently I'm rebuilding the carbs since it had been sitting a few years. Bought the bike from the original owning family (grandfather to father to son).

And here's mine. I just picked it up tonight, so can only get a shot in my somewhat crowded garage.....glamor shots in the wild soon.

It's a 70 with 31k miles and is currently wearing a toaster tank and chrome side covers from a '72. I have a line on the original tank so will probably pick that up....other than that, not sure. I've always wanted a /5... I mentioned that to Lornce out riding this weekend and he new about this one for sale....I closed quickly.

    scodill ,

Very nice. While the tank and side covers aren't original for a '70, they sure look good. Selling/trading them would be eaaaaasy. Those gold colored (sorry, coloured :lol3) carb tubes are correct for that year and are NOL (no longer available) so be gentle with them. It's harrd to tell from the picture, but has it be repainted? I can't see any pin stripes. Sure does look clean and everything looks to be there.

Yes - It's a repaint. The frame looks original though.

I also got 4 boxes of parts....engine covers, trany (busted clutch mount, but the rest of the parts are good), heads, cables, seat hardware, original mirror, etc.

No tool kit, or key for the seat/tank though.

Yeah, I'm not sure either :lol3

But, I'm seriously jealous of the condition of some of these bikes - hopefully mine will be looking better in short order. I'm picking it up next Saturday and really looking forward to it.

Ok guys, I need some input on this fine machine.

Stumbled upon this relic and have the opportunity to buy it. I know the pictures are rough and unfortunately this is all I have. I have not seen it in person, or spoken with the owner. It appears to be a 1971 and that is based on the one pictured above in this thread.

So my question is; what would something like this be worth? My gut says no more than $500, but I would love to hear from those that know better.

    Thanks

It's about time that I actually registered this thing and started using it.

Took the Toaster on a little illegal spin around the neighborhood. One thing for sure, it makes up for its lack of power by having very weak brakes. :D

I should be able to get it registered soon. 4 issues to deal with:

    1. Rear tire has some sidewall cracking so I'll get new rubber even though the tread is almost new
    2. Horn button - should be simple
    3. Leaky left Bing. I'm guessing the float.
    4. Sometimes it keeps running even after I pull up and even remove the key/nail. I'm guessing it's a sticky mechanism where the key/nail engaes but not sure yet.
