I'll embark on a 2-week, 2400 mile adventure through Idaho soon. Here are the routes that I created. The overall route strives to hit as many scenic points as possible along the way, while putting us in a town with motel and gas station each night. I also tried to keep the daily miles less than 220 to allow ample time for sightseeing, lunch stops, minor hikes through ghost towns, etc. If we arrive at our destination with plenty of daylight remaining, then we'll unload our gear and do a short loop to nearby scenic spots. I welcome any comments regarding "must see" locations. :thumb

To reduce file size, I split the route into 3 files -- here's the first file ...

    Hi Pwhallon,

I don't know why you cannot open the file (it does work on my computer).

By the way -- here's the daily itinerary that we followed:

Convert it to a KML using this utility and then it should work:

    Good luck!

I also was unable to open these .gpx files or convert them to .kml using the above link. Below is the responce from Adam, technical support at the above link.

All three of those files ends prematurely; when the XML-reading software tries to process them, an error occurs. Do you know why your files might be truncated like that?

:shog It appears that your three files are truncated and can not be converted into .kml files to be opened into google earth. I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures at the above site, and would be very interested in viewing your route contained in the files. Can you submit them in a .kml format compatible with viewing on google earth?

All 3 files work just fine in Mapsource v6.13.2 - but they are ROUTES and NOT TRACKS.

Google Earth likes tracks. It shows the trackpoints as something that looks like a route. These are a series of waypoints, which usually are visible in GE. Haven't played with them in a converter, so I don't know what the problem might be.
