Newbie beelizzy will be joining us.
Welcome along beelizzy.
In regards to post 13, what bikes are people taking. Decided on the DRZ not the Veestrom
I'm stinging to do this ride but with a 6-7 day WSBK run coming up very shortly I don't think I'd be popular going out this weekend.
If someone has a map please throw it up, I know the first part out through Blackfellows but from there on I'd be winging it.
Have a great ride and do take some pics so the rest of us can be envious.
Yeah right I'm with ya now. I'm slow at times
Hi Matt are you heading out to white rock this Sunday morning.
Unfortunately with our (beelizzy and I) airport drop off commitment I'd have to say we'd probably not be at Richmond Macca's until about 11:30-12. I reckon that'll get us to Hill End about 5:30-6. If the group wants to get going earlier than that we understand, and we'll just have to meet u at Hill End.
So guys, what say you?
Perhaps this will suit somebody working Saturday morning?
Thanks! Hopefully its not too wet or muddy! I'm likely to dissolve under such conditions!!!
Be at one with the bike!
Is this why you're worried about mud?
I can do a few things in the morning, happy to be at Maccas around 11.30. If needs be, you could always touch base via mobile on Saturday morning.
Well I'm a maybe.
It would be the KLE for me, no doubt, the Wee-Strom would be more than I can manage if things get tough :eek1
Any camping options out there, probably need to tent rather than pub/motel, the wallet is empty post Christmas :huh
If me and the KLE are at Maccas then I'm in, if not then it means I've had to do a lesser ride.
A basic room at the Hill End Ranch is $40. Be good to see you there.
There are to great camping grounds provided by national parks. One in the bush and one just on the edge of town. Both have toilets and showers and fire pits. Cost 14 or 7 to stay a night on there grounds tho if I remember right.
I'm in the same basket. If I'm there I'm there if I'm not there don't wait. Unless I things change I will post.
I will be on the tenere if I do go.
Hope both you guys can come along. More the merrier I say.
One of my favourite rides, but unfortunately I'm working
The rough plan is;
* Meet Richmond Macca's between 11:30-12.
*Head up Bells Line of Road to ZigZag.
*ZigZag to Lidsdale via Blackfellows hand track.
*Lidsdale to Capertee via the highway. BFH track is in quite bad condition coming down into the back of Baal Bone.
*Capertee to Sofala via Turon gates (too many gates)
*Sofala to Hill End.
*Hill End to Bathurst via the Bridle Track.
Bathurst back home. Any suggestions for this section are welcome. I'm thinking we're all going to be buggered by then hence the highway route back home.
I'm open to suggestions for alterations.
Isn't the bridle track closed? Or are you only doing part of it. Another great way is via long Dixsons point road
Last year a number of us did a similar ride, see thread:
Included in that thread is the below quote and map (option 1) that shows a more interesting way of getting from Blackfellows Hand Trail at Wolgen Road to Capertee, ie through the Wolgan State Forest. You pop out onto the Castlereagh Highway about 10kms south of Capertee.
There is one water crossing a few minutes after turning off Wolgan Road that may be a little difficult for newcomers though. One of the GS's got wedged in a rut there & needed to be manhandled out (refer Harris 1200's video on page 12 of thread, reproduced below, around the 2 minute mark), but no problem if you have a few helpers & it adds to the fun.
Anyway, it's another option for you to consider.
Sorry, but I can't make this one.
