    What: Hillbilly Dualsport Ride
Where: The Hub in Marble Falls Ar. www.hubinfo.com
    When: April 21-23 2017
    Hub Motel Contact Number: 870-743-4062
    Ride Fees: NONE

All makes, models and types of motorcycles are welcome to attend.

Okay folks, its time to once again schedule a dual sport and/or road ride in the heart of the Ozark Mountains between Harrison and Jasper Arkansas on some of THE BEST paved, dirt and gravel county and national forest roads and trails in the entire Midwest region!

This event is very loosely "organized" in that we set a weekend for it to occur and you show up ready to ride! There is no entry fee, no dinner, no T-Shirts, no prizes, etc. just plenty of superb riding in the Ozarks.

I have scheduled this with Debbie at The Hub and she has set aside a block of 30 rooms for us to use. These are "first come, first served" with an event rate for this so be sure to mention the Hillbilly Dual Sport ride to get it.

Scooters restaurant is right next to The Hub for breakfast and dinner. The Hub also has a fire pit so we can sit around and shoot the breeze and tent camping sites are on the grounds too. An air compressor and bike washing is available too.

Food is also available in Jasper and Harrison, both of which are about 10-15 away.

Newton County is a "dry" county but fortunately a mere 1.5 miles north on HW 7 there is a brand new liquor store and two gas stations.

If you have never been to NW Arkansas to ride I highly recommend it.

If you plan to attend, please post up here so we can get an idea of about how many will attend.

More info posted as it becomes available.

    *Added 3-22-17*
Gasoline is available at the following locations but not all will have premium. Most will offer "real" 100 percent no-alcohol regular. If you are low on gas and pass up a place that has it, shame on you because the next location may be 30 or more miles away!
    Jasper
    Ponca
    Deer
    Mt. Judea
    Dover
    Compton
    Piercetown
    Kingston
    St. Paul
    Combs
    Cass
    Oark

Please note that here in Arkansas we don't spoil the natural beauty by putting up cell phone towers so cell reception can be spotty or none at all!

Sounds like fun. I drove a moving truck through there a couple years ago and have been meaning to go back and explore on a bike.

Will there be scheduled rides or is this more of a do it yourself event?

You mention camping. Would there be room for my A-Frame camper? I don't need any hook-ups for electric or water.

Yes, there is plenty of room for your A frame camper. If you would like to see the motel area just google "The HUB, Arkansas 7 Spur, Marble Falls, AR".

Contact the motel owners for questions about hookups, etc.

lots of very primitive and scenic dirt and gravel county roads along with national forest trails. Some areas will be a little challenging for big bikes but doable.

These are not your typical dirt and gravel roads. Arkansas does not try to "improve" county roads so you will be riding in the creek bed for a hundred yards in six inches of water and also experience some very tight switchback corners full of nasty loose gravel and off camber so it makes them fun.

Not much scheduled at this event but there is always plenty of veterans on hand who can take you on some good loops. I believe last year there was something like 30 folks who attended on all makes and models of bikes so it was a good mix.

I will be leading a ride out of The Hub each day on my WR250R and the route will be around 125-160 miles long which allows for pee breaks, lunch, pictures and a decent but not banzai pace along with some of the best riding the area has to offer.

these routes have elevation changes from creek bed to over 2500 feet on the ridges so lots of ups and downs with some awesome scenic views!!

Attached is a .GPX file of a route I created going out of The Hub.

If you would like to easily view it and the elevation changes on the route via Google Earth then follow these steps:
    1) right click on the .GPX file and then "save link as" to a .GPX file on your computer
    2) open another browser window
    3) go to www.gpsvisualizer.com
    4) in the upper middle of the gpsvisualizer screen you will see a link that says "Google Earth KML" - click on it.
    5) this will open another window. On the right center of the window under the "Upload your GPS data file here" click on the "Browse" button beside the "File #1" to search for and find the .GPX file you saved in Step 1 above and double click on the file name.
    6) click on the "Create KML File" button just below the "Browse" button.
    7) another window will open which displays the name of the Google Earth file output it just created. Double click on the file name and it should open the file with Google Earth. You may have to select Google Earth if when you click on it it displays the "open with" option.
    8) a window will open with the route drawn in RED on Google Earth. Put your mouse pointer over any part of the red route line and then right click on the line and select the "Show Elevation Profile" option.
    9) an elevation profile will show at the bottom of the route. When you "mouse over" any part of the elevation profile it will show you how many miles you are into the route, the elevation and the gradient percentage of the slope. At the top of the screen there will be a red arrow that shows where you are on the route as you go over the route on the elevation profile.

2 years ago I brought my camper. You park in a large parking lot, pay $10 a night, and have access to one room that has a shower. no hookups.

I'm in. I'm a fairly new dual sport rider with a DRZ Although I may bring a Concours too. Reservations have been made at the Hub.

    Thanks for putting this together.

advmgm, do you mind posting that gpx file as a track instead of a route?? The route is not working properly for me. Probably because you made th eroute on a different map revision.

    Thanks
