If you can't tolerate graphic photos of Adventure bikes on their sides in swollen creeks, stunning waterfalls, epic scenery and 60 of the nicest ADV riders around then click the back button now.

This is how I spent the weekend of June 10th riding with some awesome people.

First lets get the "Epic Rainforest" photo out of the way...
There, now that's done we can move on.

How about a "teaser" photo of the before mentioned creek crossing.
    More on this later....

Thanks to the crew at Altrider everyone had an awesome weekend riding the beautiful back roads of Northwestern Washington State.

The event started Friday afternoon where everyone was to meet at the remote camp site by lake Wynoochee.

Jeremy from Altrider arrived with a large group from Seattle with no rear brakes on his newly painted 950 KTM.

Soon a crowd gathered and the media showed up!

Actually that was the film crew from Curbsyde Productions who came down from Canada to cover this event.

We also had Tom Foster from Australia's TrailBike Adventure magazine in attendance as well.

People kept arriving into the early evening.

Here is a rare "still" shot of John Isenberg.

Besides the "usual" GS's and KTM's there was also quite a few VStrom's, KLR's, DR's and even a Triumph Scrambler!

How about Bill Hucks heavily modified TW200!

Nice airhead (the bike not Chris)

    Why is everybody in line?

    This is why!
With Toms help (background) Mary spoiled us with Elk stew, Real NW clam chowder and the most killer fry bread around!

Roasting "Diet" marshmallows by the fire
    [IMG]

The next day we awoke to bright overcast (better than rain) and everyone gets ready for the morning ride.

With a quick check of the routes that Dave from Griptwister Tours set up we are ready to go
    [IMG]

Joe and Flora from Curbsyde Productions followed our group around and got some great footage.

Here Joe is explaning what to do if a bear attacks while Flora listens intently
    [IMG]

    Nobody said anything about BEARS!

    Ready to go
    [IMG]

The ride started out on nice gravel forest service roads
    [IMG]

And wound up into the foggy Olympics
    [IMG]

My thanks to Joe and Flora for sending me some additional photos to use in my ride report. I actually have a couple photos of myself riding for a change!

Everyone had a choice of different routes they could ride during the weekend.

Here are a couple of places I pre-rode 2 weeks prior that other people did that day.

Here is the motley crew standing by for instructions on the next "shot"

The photo group consisted of yours truly, John Isenburg, Jason "Hollywood" Williams, Whitney Koeberle, Joe Lloyd from Curbsyde, Tom Foster from Trailbike Adventure and we were later joined by Jeremy Lebreton from Altrider.

Yea, it really is that beautiful around here!

I have so much more to post...Stay tuned

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Now back to our regular programming....

Did I mention the scenic vista's?

    Nice twisty roads
    [IMG]

    Love those twisties
    [IMG]

    Peace on!

How about two up on a GS, I have a hard enough time solo!

So after a great morning of riding and sight seeing we get back to camp a little early so Jeremy has this Idea about going back to the creek/river where I baptized my GS 2 weeks earlier and BRING A FILM CREW!

Whenever a crowd gathers you know this will not end well.

    Jeremy getting interviewed while Dave.....

    Getting all set up.

Jeremy had a little hiccup going across but with Andre's help saves the bike from taking on any water.

    Things went smoother coming back
    [IMG]

    Oh yeah!!

Besides the slippery rocks the deep loose gravel makes crossing challenge
    [IMG]

So after watching a couple of successful crossings the group wants to see a "Big" bike go through..

This is where our friend Andre Corpuz steps up with his beautiful HP2

    looks good so far..

Then it happens, I think Andre and myself have the same inseam challenges
    [IMG]

Jeremy jumping right in to help a fellow rider
    [IMG]

He's laughing with you Andre not at you...

Look on the bright side, your bike isn't dirty anymore!

So they pulled the plugs and got the water out.
The bike was up and running in about 10 minutes (gotta love those Boxers)

So Jeremy volunteers to ride it out but needs Andre to give him a push...

If Andre wasn't totally soaked before he is now!

Coming back across Jeremy almost dumps it
    [IMG]

But with Andre's help he makes it across
    [IMG]

I just want to say you can tell a lot about people by how they react when things go bad. These guys had a smile on their face the whole time they were dealing with this.

I think the ADV crowd in general tends to be like this, that is one of the reasons I like to attend these kind of events. :D

So that is what we have done so far and it is not even lunch time yet!

I have to get back to work but will come in early tomorrow morning to finish this ride report up.

That was quite an exciting morning.

    Andre's ready to try again!

We get back to camp and have an incredible lunch (thank you Mary)

Here is Jeremy no doubt talking about the mornings adventures
    [IMG]

Here Mateo Navarro rests up after a hard morning ride
    [IMG]

This was Mateo's first real off road ride and he did awesome!
Both he and his father (Alberto) were on 650 cross country's

Time to head out for the afternoon loop (well over 100 miles)
    Our destination is lake Quinault

We ride pretty fast on forest roads and a little pavement to get there.

We stopped for gas and to use the head but the station did not have one (or so they told us)
The attendent pointed us down the road to the Quinault Lodge so off we went.
We had to wait a few minutes because they were cleaning the restrooms.
Imagine the horror the cleaning crew felt when they saw four VERY dusty adventure bikers walk in to use them after they worked so hard.

    Back on the road.
It was kinda nice to ride some twisties without any dust
    [IMG]

Here were are regrouping at the Rain Forest Resort getting ready for some epic scenery
    [IMG]

Despite the soggy spring the roads were quite dusty
    [IMG]

There are six more bikes behind John and Jason in that thick dust
    [IMG]

Tom (on the right) is from Australia so I'm sure a little dust is nothing to him
    [IMG]

Here we are at this drop dead gorgeous waterfall where we stop for some photos
    [IMG]

Here "Hollywood" Jason Williams poses for the camera
    [IMG]

Can't escape the paparazzi even in the rain forest
    [IMG]

    Yet another beautiful waterfall
    [IMG]

    This never gets old!

Always looking for a challenge Jason scopes out a possible new trail
    [IMG]

If you come next year to do this ride make sure you bring plenty of memory cards and batteries because you are going to need them!

Here is "Fearless" Flora from Curbside Productions shooting John Isenburg
    [IMG]

    Life is good!

On our way back we stop for some gas.

    Say hi Deanna!

    Hey! My cell phone works
    [IMG]

So we make it back to camp without incident.

Other people start showing up and we hear there was one flat (that got fixed twice!) and this Triumph broke it's shift lever
    [IMG]

The funny part is this rider was carrying a SPARE!

    Obviously a well prepared rider!

After another epic meal it's time for Awards!

Here Brianna and Jeremy hand out some nice swag
    [IMG]

Chris and Dave having a good laugh
    [IMG]

Meanwhile poor Don Hogan and the Curbsyde crew were busy putting together the days clips so we can see them later
    [IMG]

Time to hang out by the fire and talk about the days epic rides
    [IMG]

That's one way to warm your toes!

Nothing like fresh oysters by a campfire (who needs marshmallows)

So the next morning I awake to this!

What a great place for a campsite
    [IMG]

We squished a few bugs yesterday
    [IMG]

The fog burns off pretty quickly
    [IMG]

Waiting for the "Cowboy" coffee to brew
    [IMG]

This dog was amazing. He slept the whole time we were there!

    More early risers (Deanna)

    Breakfast is served
    [IMG]

After breakfast people start breaking down their camps and prepare for the trip home
    [IMG]

Again I would like to thank the AWESOME crew at Altrider for putting on such a great event.

If you missed it make sure to set aside time next year to come, you won't regret it!

    See you next year! :D

Damnit - I live here and missed out?! Hopefully this IS an annual thing!
AWESOME video - I especially liked the slow motion water rooster tail at the end - best part was the smile and shrug - looks like a great group of people!

Who is in for this years ride? I have been to all three events and will be back again this year. The food is off the charts, the beer is cold and plentiful, (hint, one more keg of Mannys would be a bonus Brianna:wink:).

    Ride on:deal
