    That screen to me screams "I shouldn't have bought a naked bike.".

    Yep, two bolts and it's off. I don't like screens much as they tend to be far noisier than a naked, but having reshaped this one it is fairly quiet and bearable. I ride 7 days a week, around 4000km a month and the autumn and winters are wet. The screen means cruising at 120kmh in the cold and wet for long distances is a lot more pleasant. If I'd wanted a faired bike - and I've owned many - I'd have bought one.

    I bought the Hornet 3 weeks ago and I have put 3500km on it since, and I have 2 other bikes as well - both nakeds - with another 1500km on them in March.

    (A reminder - if you order H&B racks you'll need to order the locking plates for the bags as well as H&B ship the plates with the bags, not the racks. They are only about $20 for the pair.)

    One of the reasons I like naked bikes is the versatility. My GS is currently naked, but at times has had a small screen and large Aerofoil (?) fairing. I think the 919 looks good with the HB's. Are those the 30L?

    Yes, I originally bought them for the W800 as the 30s were narrower than the 40's and I ride the 800 a bit in the city and they are narrow enough for easy lane splitting. I have the 40L topbox and with the 3 cases and a tankbag there is more than enough storage for my needs. I haven't had to use the cases much at all and usually just use the topbox on the W800. H&B stuff is very solid, unlike the Givis I've also had on my bikes.

    I have had a 919 since August 2012 and love it. It's my ninth bike and definitely my favourite.

    I've read this whole thread and I noticed one thing in common with almost everyone's photos: bar end mirrors

    The stock mirrors are pretty junk and I have struggled to find a nice replacement. I have looked at the CRGs but hell no I'm not paying $200 for mirrors

    What do you guys use?

    I'm using Napoleon stalk mounts right now but I'm interested in the style I see on your bikes

    The ones on my bike in the pics above are just cheap Tuono-styles. You can get them at bike shops or on Ebay. You'd be surprised just how much wind noise and pressure on your shoulders/helmet the standard round Honda items cause at speed. The Tuonos don't cause any, probably because of the odd shape. Properly angled they give full rear coverage despite the shape. Bar ends are good and I've used them a lot in the past - British Stadiums usually - but they are hard to get now and I'm not keen on the mini style because they are too small to focus on quickly at my age.

    Wasn't sure if I would like bar end mirrors so I tried a cheap ebay set.
    So far so good. A little different than having them right up in front of you but once I got used to them, I like them a lot.
    I bought a set that you could put in place of the weights or clamp around the end of the bar. Renthal bars were pretty thick inside so they wouldn't accept the weights.
    Once these fall apart, I'll look for a nicer set.

    I've got wide ass shoulder and bar ends are the only way I can see anything in my mirrors without moving my arms.

    For years I used neapoleans with the modified rectangle shape.
    Then I got a pair of the CRG rip off from cycle gear. They worked great.
    But I've since gone back to the Honda lollipops since my wife also rides the 919 and she doesn't like the bar ends.
    Pluss for lane filtering the lollipops work just a little better.

    I will say that the emgos I had for a short time sucked.

    It's a shame my Napoleon mirrors vibrate so much. The bar ends look good but it does seem awkward to look waaay down there to check behind me

    I've got a few upgrades on my 919 but I tend to leave my bikes generally stock. Lately I've been tempted to farkle up my bike more

    I've never had an issue with my neapolean bar ends vibrating but the pair of mirror mounts ona kz I rode one sure did.

    In fact I found the extra weight of the bar end worked to squash some higher frequency vibrations.

    Looking down at the mirrors was much more easy for me then having to move and contort my arm to see behind me.

    That's a great point about having to move your arms. Although the Napoleon mirrors are better than stock, I still have to contort to see well

    I'm pretty sold on trying the bar ends but I'm having a tough time finding a simple bolt on set that utilises the stock bar end mounts and what not. I don't want to cut or move or trim what I have now.

    Maybe I'm not looking smart enough :)

    I picked this up this past winter. 2500miles on the clock and had been sitting outside a long time. Still has an 03 inspection sticker.

    The tank had a ton of dried gas, and a little rust. Cleaned that out. Replaced the fuel pump, a turn signal, and a brake lever (from a no-speed drop) and she looks good as new. Took a while to get the fuel into the system, but once it was there she fired right up. Now starts right away with no choke and idles fine. Took her down the block and had my first taste of how fast this bike is.

    Got some new tires and just waiting to get them mounted now.

    Any must do mods? I'm a stock bike kinda guy, but you never know what's essential. :D

    Honestly, no mods are essential when it comes to the 919...lol. Honda got it right the first time I guess...lol.

    although, a CBR 900 exhaust will drop about 18 pounds off your bike...and the CBR rims look muuuch better imho.
