I agree. And while the Duke 390, EX300R and CBR250 aren't what we want, they demonstrate that today's economies and the demand of a world market for 250-400cc bikes just might get us there, eventually.

[400cc bikes sell in Australia, and the Chinese and Indian economies are growing stronger. You will see them in Hong Kong long before we see them in the USA, however.]

true but they only sell in other countries if they are old stock unsold or happen to fit in the markets requirements the Kawasaki Ninja 400R/ER4F was sold in Canada briefly as the insurance was just right for the capacity, what I would lvoe is Aprilia to get into the Superstock market with a 600CC V-twin in a beautiful Italian frame, they're going to make a 250 most likely a V-twin to compete in the the future 250cc WSBK class.

And KTM is supposedly making a Moto3 version of their 373cc 390, for similar reasons. Just have to wait and see.

I'm not stuck on any one design, but in a smaller, lighter, nimble bike, I still want as broad a power (torque) band as possible. The V4 was better than the I4, same with a triple. I won't turn down the right twin or thumper as long as the chassis and components are all top shelf. Unfortunately, I'm in a very small minority.

Thumpers and twins are something special when made to be as powerful as they can be, I do believe you learn more on a single as if your not carefeul the way it thuds can off you if your too soon on the power one day I would love to own a CBR 250RR the old inline 4 that revved to 20,000RPM a CBR400RR NC29 and hopefully stilll own my NC30 with its engine abit more heated up.

Alright back on focus now should hopefully start working next week to put some well needed cash injection into my NC30, have contacted a guy about stainless steel collars as the mild steel collars on the NC30 SS system always rust away so will need four, two for the original standard system to store away in the garage and another two for my standard cut system, jets will be ordered soon and will give a good day to taking apart fitting the jets and rebuilding the carbs to suit the exhaust properly, since i'll be working in various locations I'll get more miles closer to changing the wheels over and the oil change scheduled mileage.

sorry about not doing much at all trying to find a summer job is becoming allot trickier than I thought it would be but I'm getting round to changing out the exhaust now I found out one of the previous owners was stupid enough to weld the front down pipes solid to the rear down pipes so now I'm having to remove the whole system then having to cut the welds and fix it properly a welded up exhaust is only worth £100 when a properly sorted out original with SS joint collars is worth £900 but it has forced me to change to my more freer flowing exhaust in but god is it messy probably hasn't been done in over 10 years the heat guard I thought only had abit of surface corrosion the other side is a whole other story used a metal brilo pad to clean her up put will just put a clear coat over it and put it in the garage waiting to get payment details to get a carbon fibre heat shield no need to worry about corrosion there.

Finally got the exhaust off took allot of effort and swearing to pivot enough to get her off the bike, don't think the down pipes have ever been off managed to get the far side nuts and studs out okay the near side another story the nut was on so tight it snapped the studs thankfully have at least 10mm poking out enough to get some leverage or use a stud remover using plenty of WD40 tonight to loosen her up then use a jet lighter to heat the surroundings tomorrow have a set of new studs and nuts ordered having to source nuts that will fit the rear manifold as mine have corroded so badly that the 12mm socket couldn't be used had to force a 11mm on and managed to get them off slowly but surely little V4's are a pain to work on here she stands currently have loosely fitted the rear manifold, silencer and the right side front down pipe left the other off to remove the snapped studs tomorrow thankfully got a guy popping over with the tools to give a helping hand.

here's the silencer its a bit longer and wider than the stock but it is straight through.

even with a stud extractor, mole grips and heating still couldn't get the studs out having to get it booked in to have the studs drilled out, hopefully without damaging the studs, once its free to have new studs put in I'm making my own studs with a titanium threaded bar I was given and SS nuts and washers to replace the original steel ones.

a quick update still waiting to have my bike picked up to have the studs drilled out should be picked up on thursday morning, until then I have the Candy green Kawasaki "ER-6F" aka Ninja 650R to ride about on in the good weather.

have had genuine honda studs and nuts arrive will probably not use these and jsut use them as reference to make my own better quality ones i'm sure they last well if not left on the bike 23 years but would rather use my titanium threaded bar.

also have had my Carbon heat shield arrive this morning its smaller than the original and only mounts to the foot pegs not the frame but she will do a good job and look better in doing so I cleaned up the metal heat shield as it had some surface rust. I bought it off another NC30 owner, won't fit it until the bike is back together but here are some pictures of it fitted to a type 1

only a small thing to sort now having one side light out and the other very dim new LED ones should arrive tomorrow or thursday, have her running and sorted the cooling out now she sounds super loud at low revvs and cools properly, did a run up to 130 mark then barked off to enter a town to about 30ish mph normally the temp would bang straight up past 90 degrees towards the red H mark but now she went from 70ish to 80ish and never went up very happy rider now, have missed the small sports bike handling and with the exhaust she has more shove to her, will get a proper clean picture of her all buttoned up tomorrow.

waiting on a new rear master cylinder to arrive as riding in the summer I suddenly lost pressure in the system so I think the seal flipped will fix the original one in the summer when I have time when I'm not studying, have a Tyga rear spacer arriving as well to be fitted when Renthal rear sprocket, new chain adjuster hub and RVF wheels/rear link are fitted, waiting on my *69 decal to arrive as well hopefully will arrive before I go home next week then I can set about fitting the easy to sort stuff.
all of these apart from the chain adjuster hub will be fitted over the 5 days I'm at home have to sort out my spare fairing pieces aswell, she hasn't been turned over in a over a month so I'm worried the carbs may have gummed up so may have to spend half a day cleaning them out and maybe a rejet she ran fine before hand did backfire on down shifts but the sparks were fine may improve the midrange pull though with a washer in each carb
