It looks like the guard will be frame mounted and rubber isolated along with the oil cooler. :clap

Owners of my original oil cooler kit need not worry...
When finished this new guard can replace the original guard without any modifications. I don't have a price yet if you are wanting to upgrade. I will make the price as affordable as possible.

I am working on a frame mounted guard. I have been very busy and will answer my PMs and email asap.
Here is a photo of the fun that I am having:

    About the new guard design::deal
If I made the guard bolt directly to the frame, the other end of the guard would have to blot to the outside of the oil cooler mount. That looked way too bulky and added a big visual mass to the whole setup. Made a bunch of scrap on this idea. Oh well...

I decided to bolt the guard inside of the oil cooler mount like my prototype in the above photos.
Now this makes the guard rubber isolated along with the cooler. The mount to the frame therefore has to be rubber isolated too.
The rubber mount has a thick aluminum sleeve inside. This will enable the motor mount to be torqued to spec.
A longer motor mount bolt will have to be added to the finished kit.

I still have to make some small revisions to my drawings. This will require another prototype to be cut.

The final version will have vents.
Here is a Photoshop version of the guard with vents.

Please let me know what you guys think.

    Stay tuned.

Once you work out all the intricacies for adapting the rubber isolated frame mount for the XR600 I'm in! Freeway temps are just making me cringe.

That's some good lookin' hardware !

So does that mean you will be selling both set-ups, or just the new one with the updated isolated frame-mount?

    Gee, thanks. :lol3

I really do feel the pressure.
Made a step in the right direction today... just received a batch of ugly aluminum that I get to bend and make pretty. :clap

The design looks great Mark! Have you thought about combining both of the parts in this picture into one large piece? Just a random thought...

If you ask me it's just awesome as is, with the new sunken bolts and guard design.
I like the two piece assembly !

It's a whole lot easier to fabricate as well with less scrap

So what is the going price now? I saw you said you were going to increase it $15 a while back, but I'm not sure what the price was at that point. Do you have any running in E Africa yet? I'll be shipping it to a friend in Orlando who can bring it for me next month! It needs to arrive no later than May 10. Is that possible?

I'm also not clear on if you are now making a few options or if there's still just a standard kit. I would definitely want mine to be very strong and have mounts to the frame.

Thanks and looking forward to installing it in the coming months!

Yes, this guard will easily replace the old guard. I will have the guards and the new flat-head cooler bolts available as an upgrade. I do not have a price yet.

The price was never raised. I am sorry for not updating the home page.
I am trying to keep the cost around $275.00 without the bypass valve. I will let you know as soon as I can. I just shipped one last month to S. Africa and the shipping was $50.00. :puke1
I will make sure that the kits will be available very soon and should easily make your May 10 deadline. I will have two options as far as the guard goes - one frame mounted and one that mounts just to the oil cooler.
    I hope this helps.
