Hey, Vin. That's a great report. My wife and I will be doing the Phanton Canyon Road to Victor this summer on my KTM 950. Good to see what it looks like. We've done Alpine Tunnel on my KLR. It's a little rough 2-up , but beautiful. The Crested Butte area if fantastic, too. Thanks.

Thanks for the ride report. You did a great job on it. I'll have to tell our buddy Darel about it. He may see it anyway. I know he looks at this site. Thanks again, i know from personal experience how much work is involved in it.

That is just a small taste of what Phantom Canyon road has to offer. I have been up and down it a dozen times and see more everytime. It is a great ride to say the least. It is just impossible to take pictures that show all it has to offer to the eye.

your trip. It is fantastic that your wife likes riding with you. That makes a for a special experience.

You did a great job with the trip report and pics are excellent.

I have a WRR also and did a 2600 mile adventure last July with my brother. The WRR did great even with camping gear strapped on. We grew up in Okla and also just love Colorado. Our trip started in Westcliff, Colorado and we did a big loop up into Montana and then back to Westcliff. Marshall Pass was our first day. Fantastic trip! Ride report on ADV is named "Hopscotch and Jack Danials Too" if you want to have a read.

I have to get back to Colorado and ride some of your routes. Also I am thinking of doing a week of off pavement this spring up in Arkansas. If you have any recommended tracks I would love to have them.

Thanks for taking the time to write up about your adventures, and give a glimpse into the beautiful backcountry of Colorado. We were there also on street bikes this past summer, riding some of the well known highways including Independence Pass and the Million Dollar highway. I loved it! I don't think my Kawi would care for the off road experience, so it has sure made me wonder about stepping over to the dirt side of things...

I appreciate the bit of history accompanying your pictures, makes one really think about how life must have been back in those remote areas....not easy, yet indeed surrounded by beauty.

I would ride back to Colorado in a second...wait...maybe the snow here needs to melt first. Thanks for the shot of fuel you've added to the fire that is my desire to ride....the further the better.

Happy trails to you and your HB.:thumb

Thanks to all of you that have posted notes of appreciation and enjoyment of my lil' ride report. I hesitate to post 'em here 'cause I'm a dual sport rider and not an adventure rider. And shucks... a piddly dual sport ride in Colorado pales in comparison to some of the true adventure rides posted in these forums!! Maybe one of these days me n' HB can ride atop the Great Wall of China for its entire length, eating nothing but bamboo shoots and leachy nuts, and then we can truly post an adventure ride report! :rofl

Seriously: As many of you know, doing up a ride report is a lot of work... but when others enjoy the effort it makes it worth while. Thanks for saying so!
