The scale of destruction wasn't as bad as what we usually get to see overseas. However, for those individuals and families who have lost loved ones and had their properties destroyed, it made no difference. We only had a lot of rain where I live,

The Tornado cut through the middle of my commute, so I will get to see some of the damage on my way to work this morning. One of our students lost his dad in a tornado last year, so we were all pretty worried when we heard the news.

Happened about 2 km from us. Man cave got flooded, but other than that we were untouched. My wife was driving home from west Ak on the upper harbour motorway within minutes of it hitting, things were still a bit wild ,damage all around , cops & fire brigade just arriving.

Our thoughts are with all those who have lost houses, been injured or in 3 cases paid the ultimate price.

Quite a number of the motorway lamp posts had snapped. I would have hoped that they would just bend and not fail completely. I am glad it didn't happen on my way home. It would not have been good to go through there on a bike.
