I rode parts of it a few months ago, from Hot Springs to Shady Lake.

No. We stayed on the county and fire roads. Just watch out for four wheelers and side by sides.

The section from highway 270 to highway 88 is NOT big bike friendly! I rode this last year on a KLR and while we made it ok, there are lots of very large rocks in the stream beds you have to ride in and if you don't have a real skid plate and have ridden terrain such as this I would skirt this section. The rest is easy. I rode that section again yesterday in my SXS and it has not changed!

Thanks Tony. I'll be on a dr650 and my buddy on a drz400. He has a lot of dirt experience, but I'm more road biased. I'll probably skirt that section and meet up with him later. We shall see. Thank you for the info.

The DR650 would probably not be that bad. It is much lighter than a KLR650 and much more dirt oriented. I have a DRZ400E as well and it is a piece of cake on it.

I ended up only riding part of the route. Womble Silver rd from Crystal Springs to Norman, AR. Then I rode pavement back to Hot Springs. I was short on time. That part of the route was all gravel. Easy, but still fun.

There are five or so of us riding a couple of different loops on Friday and Saturday next weekend. One is the Crystal Springs loop that I modified and another is through the Albert Pike area to Mena and back if your interested. We are all on 650's.

I would really like to, but Friday I start my adventure to South Korea for 1 year. Maybe we can meet up when I come back on my mid tour break. I appreciate the invite.

I would like to see your route info.

    Have fun and be safe.

I will send you the routes. I have a friend that is a chef for the State Department in Seoul that bought an FJR from me and shipped it back to Korea. He rides a lot and if you have access to a bike over there I can get you his contact info.

That would be cool. I'll be about 3 hours from Seoul. My plan is to seek out some sort of motorized 2 wheels once I'm there.
