I'm a dumb ass. I see you have a 250 as well. Doh!
I have often tought of getting a 250. Especially when I'm out of breath working my 650 around in the woods! But wondered about the longevity of the motor when run at near highway speeds for days.

No worries. I wasn't offended. Heck, I also drive a Honda Element (since 2004), but that's a whole 'nother story. :rofl

I was concerned about highway miles as well. I've got 20k miles on mine with 99.5% highway commuting miles @ 75+ ~60 miles round trip.. That things has been wound out and going strong! (probably just jinxed myself) :lol3

I'm lowering the gearing, so I plan to keep my speeds under 68mph to keep the rpms down. :D

Howdy! Moved down from OKC in August and considering a purchasing a dual sport. I spent every month for 3 years at Hallet racetrack with a SV650 and a R6 but I'm in an apartment down (inner looper!!) here so gave up the sport bike.

I'm looking for a fast-ish/fun dual sport for the occasional commute, long weekend trip and acting a fool when I miss my R6! Test rode the new Triumph Explorer and a clean KTM 990 Adventure with my girlfriend on back. The 990 was a hoot! Still need to test a Multi 1000 or 1100 and a BMW GS but seriously leaning towards the KTM.

Sounds like the national forest is the only place to enjoy the KTM's alleged sweet off road capabilities on a day trip?

I'm going to do the TAT on mine, let me know when you want to go. I will also be doing Alaska but hopefully on a Super Tenere.

Will do. I really REALLY want to do it this year, but have to get some things sorted first. If not, then it'll have to be next year.

There have been a few attempts to try to get folks together. I'm not sure why it hasn't happened yet. :)

Not sure I want to ride from here to there. I'd be willing to rent a uhaul and drive the bikes there. Save time and leave me fresh for the trail!

    Hi folks

Moved to h town summer of 2012. Took the second half of the year to get settled in Katy. Now that the dust is settled, I am back in the saddle again. Hoping to find like minded folks on ds bikes. If there will be a meet up soon - excited to meet the folks here.
