Sorry Atomic....prolly won't be the Boys. But if their cheerleaders played...
If you were watching them right now you wouldn't say that. I say it will be the Boys.
I meant it prolly won't be the Boys I'll be cheering for...but if the Cowgirls played in some sport....
It was a good end to the season. Beating the Raiders is always fun.
Overall I think Siemian did well for his first real season. Well enough to lead the team to and win the Superbowl... last year. And certainly better than Brock or Sanchez this year. There are still areas that need improvement but that should come with time.
If they can work out the offensive line and re-gel the defense then next year could be very good indeed.
I'm just saying that if Siemian had been the QB last year I believe he would have led the team to and won the Super Bowl. His stats are considerably better than Manning's in 2015 and his QB rating was about equal to Brock's 2015 - all while working behind a much worse O-line and without the benefit of Anderson for most of the year to add offensive balance with the running game.
If the rest of the team was playing at the level they were last year then I'd say we would be back in the Super Bowl this year. There was so much talk after last year that any decent quarterback could return to the big game but it's obviously not the same team.
Siemian has done well and has good stats, Supebowl win, not sure on that. Mannings leadership on the field, locker room was a major player. Plus how prepared he was in knowing his opponents from film study.
Game situation, filed position, clock managment etc.
I would take Mannings experience anytime over a first yr QB, but as time goes I do believe Siemian will be a very good QB.
Though he's certainly a top all-time QB, Manning was pretty abysmal last year. He had twice as many interceptions as touchdowns with a 67.9 QB rating. His passes were shaky and he couldn't throw deep. The defense came through time and again to bail out the offense.
I agree that all the veteran QB intangibles you mention can come into play. Then again, Manning hadn't shown himself to be the best performer in his prior Super Bowl appearances with Indy and Denver: 1-5 before last year.
Manning did OK in the Super Bowl last year but certainly not great. He did just enough on the offensive side (13-23 for 141 yards, no TDs, 1 int). The Broncos won because the defense shut down Newton and totally knocked him and Carolina off their game. In my humble and uneducated opinion, Brock could have also won and I'd say Siemian this year is a better quarterback than Brock was last year, or at least comparible.
I'm seeing a few reports that Vance Joseph has already called Mike McCoy and asked him to be his OC. I'd be ok with that. Joseph has a lot of Colorado ties. I'm not sure Lil Shanahan is ready to be a head coach yet.
Weird that Paxton Lynch didn't get any playing time against the Raiders. Does that mean Trevor was being show cased for a trade? Saving Paxton for a trade? Can they afford to keep both? What about Romo? The plot thickens.
I cannot see them keeping both Paxton and Trevor.
I hope they forget about Romo.
Broncos make it official, hire Vance Joseph as head coach.
Joseph emerged as the favorite after a four-hour interview Tuesday and a long dinner at general manager John Elway's Cherry Creek restaurant. The Broncos told Joseph to cancel his flight to San Diego, a clear indication of their desire to finalize a deal Wednesday at Dove Valley.
Joseph served as Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator this past season. He first impressed the Broncos two years ago when they interviewed him for the job that went to Gary Kubiak. Joseph carried that momentum into his week, beating out candidates Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Kansas City coordinator Dave Toub. Joseph expected to begin interviewing offensive coordinator candidates as soon as Thursday with Mike McCoy and Bill Musgrave on his list.
I guess when Mr. Elway tells you to cancel your trip to San Diego......you cancel your trip to San Diego.
The broncs need a QB more than they need a coach....
Although Vance's health comeback is an inspiring story.
Need an O line both tackles have a problem with the outside speed rusher, Paradis(the center) is having hip surgery , he is a leader but hips are bad. Guards have an issue also on getting to the second level blocks. Need a TE that can catch and block.
Trevor needs one more year to prove himself, and I'd say he's earned it. If the team isn't better next year then maybe it'll be time to shop around for the QB position.
Losing Wade Phillips probably won't help. I mean, WTF with that?
Yeah, Phillips left on his own. Weird. To my knowledge, he was not fired....was he?
Here's a scenario....Phillip is not happy with the Chargers. McCoy is back with the Broncos....maybe Phillip comes with him?
Well, Brock is back and Trevor played well for 3 quarters. The Defense saved the day.....again.
On the plus side, I was at the game last night and I saw a very attractive lady with a sign that read, "Ladies love the D" using the older Broncos logo for the D. Did that sign make it onto the broadcast?
Trevor played well the whole game - the two 4th quarter turnovers weren't his doing....a fluke tip of a pass that was picked off, and someone smacked the ball out of Jamal Charles' hands as he was going down.
For a clean sheet, ground up rebuild of a team down to the entire coaching staff - they looked excellent most of that game. Trevor is better than most people think he is, and he showed signs of what he's capable of becoming Monday night.
Show of hands who thought that Wade Philips' defense would be tough to replace?
Our D hustled better than ever - they were all over the place and getting to the ball in a flash.
The Chargers are a very good team, and we were handling them fairly effortlessly 75% of the game.
Bosa and Melvin Ingram are outstanding and made their presence known, but I was very encouraged by what the coaches and team did.
Chargers ain't good...probably finish in last in AFC-West. Raiders looked good.
