Been searching around various forums looking for anyone that has documented what it takes to raise the suspension on a KTM 990 Adventure. So far I have only seen people moderately discuss the merits and/or who have sent their suspension to a tuner to perform the change for them.

I know this kit comes with the compromise of not getting the right springs. http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-950-990-non-abs-adventure-r-spec-suspension-kit. I also know what parts to order individually without the springs that will lower the cost to about $400, then order the correct springs.

What I don't know is what special tools may be required to install the parts beyond a basic service or revalve job, such as tools to fully dismantle the cartridges.

Has any home garage tuner performed this type of work that can enlighten me. I know my way around the Showa stuff on my CRF450R, but no WP. I'm not against being the guinea pig or the first to document this well, but rather avoid getting myself into a bind a long the way.

    Thanks,

The forks are no problem, they don't require anything special apart from the cap removal tool - or something identical. The shock is the problem, which you have to take apart, and needs nitrogen, vacuum and special tools.

Thanks for the reply. I can take it to a friend to have the shock vacuum bled and filled with nitrogen. I have my own nitrogen tank and regulator, but no vacuum setup.
