At the 1:28 mark the rider gives up and stands the bike up.

    Lack of experience or panic???
    What say you.

    Looks like both to me.

A sad end to a Ducati Sport Classic GT1000. (The red bike that the camera user is operating.) That Duc is a great bike but you need to respect its idiosyncracies.

Hope the riders are OK. Glad to see they were geared up.

He set up badly for the turn and panicked. Target fixated on the cause of his panic and hit his mark.

Seems like at least 4 riders who panicked and forgot any training they had. First guy went down, 2nd target fixated on bike, 2nd from last did the same and nearly hit them, last guy grabbed some brake and "laid 'er down"

I don't know if the go pro rider had any choice.
The go pro makes things look a lot farther away than they really are.

I don't think the camera guy had that much of a choice. Hard to say. It took me 3 times to notice the guy that layed her down in the background.

They were just going to fast for their skill level.

Going too FAST and following too close on a public road for any skill level.

Yes he did. He could have put some space between him and the bike he was following...but I guess that doesn't make for a good video.

Definitely following too close. The video bike could have avoided the whole situation if he had kept some distance.

+1 IMO that's all it was...just way too close. Speedwise, although it's hard to tell, it looked OK. Nice to see the cager pull over though :) and nice to see the rider acknowledge.

BTW - anyone know what sort of camera mount he was using? Looks pretty good, smooth, a nice angle

Yeah, the video bike had no trouble negotiating the turn, well except for slamming head on into the bike that slid out into him.

The camera mount I would assume to be one of those Go pro chest harness mounts.

My favorite part is at 1:43 when - even though the accident is over - some guy in the very back stops way short and still dumps his/her bike. Too damn funny.

It's amazing to me how you can "superman" over the bars at speed and just get up.Like that. I had one last year, 100 feet on my face and chest (atgatt) on the Merrit Pky in rush hour. and after cops and emt's were done taping up my saddlebags.. I rode the fifty miles home. Humans are tough!!
    Hope everyone was OK.

The EXACT reason I strongly emphasize a minimum 3 second gap when I lead rides, whether it be at an ADV event or just a weekend ride. If the camera bike had been at least that far bike it would have been a non event for him/her.

If I notice folks following too close I have a talk with them. I've been run over by a following rider when I low sided, so I would rather hurt feelings than see a non-event low side turn into something much worse.
