Farcall mentioned the Flinders Ranges - That's fairly central (~2800k from Perth) so around May 2014 in the Flinders is fine with me.

im totally cool with a flinders meet, maybe the arkaroola or wilpena pound, william creek hotel or cameron corner. If we met at cam cnr then we could ride from there to innaminka and camp on Cooper creek. Awesome camping there.

Had a beer or 2 :huh with Phil at Mungerannie Pub on the Birdsville Track last week. Like his style... just when he thinks you're leaving, he buys you one, and then you stay for another 6 :D. Could think of worse places to stump up.

Also the new owners at Kingoonya Pub on the Transcon Line SA are bike riders. One of them is buying a DR.

Edit... Pete, like your setup - Steel Ponies and the TT tank.

Kingoonya brings back memories. I picked up the timber railway sleepers between Malbooma and Glendambo in about 86. I remember reading that Oz got 37 HP2e if that helps

I would prefer to stay at a pub or at least where we can have a beer and sleep in a bed for a night - and most remote pubs have a camping ground for those that want to camp.

    I agree with Noelm
I know I know...it sounds soft...but my back and neck are shot, so I go for comfort over kudos.
I'll do some research into this trip...it may be viable, depending on
    Work
    Family

    Hahahaha

do any of my esteemed hp2 mates know how to set up a register on adv rider for australia and does anyone know how to set up a poll for the best place to have our meeting/meetings.

The first would help with communications
The second would help with logistics for our first get together

It seems we already have a need for a place with accomodation and camping. If its accomodation im cool because i wont need to carry gear, if its camping im ok too.

So if we can name 10 locations then all the hp2 owners vote on a location that would be cool.

No I do not know how to setup a Poll but I am sure the Mods would have to have some input.

    I will suggest Wilpena Pound

    Links:
    http://www.wilpenapound.com.au/

    http://www.yktravelphoto.com/places/wilpena-pound-flinders-ranges-national-park/691

offers 60 hotel rooms, a picturesque campground, National Park Visitor Information Centre, restaurant, bar/bistro, swimming pool and general store and also the greater area can be explored. Also about 1/2 way from either East or West?

When to meet: I will go with the flow as given plenty of notice can arrange time off work.

Consider Angorichina Village 1/2 way between Parachilna and Blinman in the Flinders. Not a pub but sells beer, camping, dorm accom, cabins, bbq facilities, sells fuel and very bike friendly. You'll find it shit loads cheaper than Wilpena.

    Tell them kipo sent ya.

Oh hang on, their motto is "Real people only, no yuppies" and you're on BMW's. Just kidding :lol3

    +1 for Kipo's comments.

We attend motorbike events up there every year with up to 100 participants. Dave and Caroline at the Angorichina Village go out of their way to accommodate us.

As stated, Cabins, 40+ bed dormitory, plus powered and un-powered camping, with full commercial cooking and bbq +, walk-in cold room, monster firepit at the dorm (plus others around the property), offering great facilities for a group of people getting together.

They also have two small buses at the Village and for a small fee will ferry groups to any of the nearby 'establishments', including the Blinman Hotel which, if given notice, will organise a wood oven pizza night for you.

If your plans are around May 2014, it can get very cold and wet in the Flinders, this place has the facilities to accommodate that. We will have 100 up there a few weeks earlier in April - Flinders Ranges Classic VII - 2014.

i feel that a great location for the hp2 meet would consist of these elements:

    similar distance for all attendees
a month when not too cold i.e. april
    bit of a challenge
    good camping/ rooms
    river
    alcohol/food availability

Those in combination knock SA & Central Australia out.

Just curious, why do they need a river?
