rolling in on friday, hope to see you there
didn't see your class, when is it suppose to happen, would like to attend this one.
Been way to long! I might even dust the bike off and ride.
Yes been a while, life and living and all that stuff.
A few folks I know are heading down, Walt is trying for a parkfield ride on Saturday, but I think I will be busy at the event and I paid for the food already
I might it it up sunday as an alternative route home, not sure yet.
Either way look for the teepee
I hope to go. I only live 50 miles south as Google Maps tracks it. I have Fri, Sat and Sun off from work so only have myself to blame for not going, a bit shy around new folks might do me in but I'm going to fight that off and suck it up. Trying to get Thursday off as well, in for a penny in for a pound as they say.
What day you coming down?
I have the same problem with people and crowds so I can sympathize. That being said, suck it up and go!! Its well worth it!! The people are great, the talks and the stories are awesome, its just generally a great time.
As for taking Thursday off, I wouldn't sweat that if you cant get it. The event doesn't officially start until the afternoon and the majority of people don't get there until Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.
Friday :) leaving in the morning , not sure if coast or via parkfield
Looks like Jesse Luggage is gona make it this year. I went last year, and talked it up so well, that the boss is going this year. I really enjoyed the presentations last year. Food wasn't bad either.
I've been looking at the site on Google maps and wondering where attendees are supposed to set up camp. Can anyone give me intel on that? And it also looks lilke the road in there is paved :huh Can one of you locals confirm??
You set up camp wherever you can find a semi flat spot...grin, the road is paved till you get to the entrance, then turns to dirt, kinda fun when it gets wet on a bike !!!
The most desirable location is grass between the cafeteria building and the ocean edge of the cliff...
The only problem is there will be many many tents set up there. :eek1 I opted to set up in the trees closer to the bunkhouse buildings. Quieter and more privacy. Another advantage (??) was the fog/dew was so thick that it "rained" off the trees onto my tent. I slept like a baby !
This is a great event.. have fun !
Its paved tru town and then a dirt driveway you could call it. Couple hundred yards if that. Hard graded dirt any vehicle could go on.
The camping is basically wherever theres a spot for your tent. Mostly around the main building.
Already showing up.
Thanks people! Looks like I'll be ok to take the big sport tourer rather than the little dual sporter. Much smoother whilst slabbing.
Heading out Friday mid morning from the bay area/Peninsula if the fog these mornings is lighter will hop over 84 and down the coast the whole way, if super foggy that is going to be much less fun and will go via 25/198/parkfield and over 46 to old creek road and down into cambria.
Wave if ya pass me
leaving tomorrow after work. beemer is in the shop awaiting fuel pump, so caging. ugh. at least that leaves room for whisky. ha.
will be working the gayte friday 4-6.
few of us like Port too
The event was great, even the fog stayed away 'til Sunday Morning. Didn't see this thread before I left, but happened to camp next to Hans. Was also a young Swiss couple, Markus and Karin there, seeing the sights in the Southwest before headin' south of the border for the New Year. All three great folks!
Yes. Hans used my service to buy and register and stayed with us for a week. Very nice fella and extremely capable mechanic and rider.
