I've been so busy lately with work, being a Dad and husband, doing the home improvement thing and all that kinda stuff that my poor bike has been neglected. Today I finally made some time to escape for a couple hours so I rode up and over Hurrah Pass in what can only be described as perfect riding weather. Started out in the mid-60's and was only 78 when I got home. I was surprised to see several other big bikes out there, including a KLR being ridden 2 up, 2 DR's, a V-Strom and an older GS1200. The low point of the ride was getting stuck behind half a dozen rented ATV's traveling at 15 MPH and being ridden by an overweight family whose jeans just couldn't possibly hide their gi-normous ass cracks.

I've never been a fan of sand and I'm certainly not an accomplished rider. I decided today was a good day to practice riding fast through sand, standing up on the pegs in the rough stuff and using the rear wheel & strategically applied throttle to steer through sharp turns. I had a great time and my bike only fell asleep once. I should have taken a photo of her nap but I was so surprised by the sudden bout of narcolepsy that I immediately picked up the bike, looked around to see if anyone was watching and got back in the saddle. Next time.

Here's a few photos from the ride:

This was shortly after I dropped it at low speed in the gravel. Not really sure what happened. One second I was upright and the next we were horizontal. No damage to me or the bike.

Scenery abounds on this trail. Looking out toward Dead Horse Point and Potash Rd. from just over Hurrah Pass.

Another view toward DH Point & Potash. Great place to take a piss, too.

Found this awesome balancing rock alongside the trail. Made a mental note to return with the full camera rig at sunset to make a quality image.

Great pictures! We were out exploring Dead Horse today and probably looking out at where you were riding.

Renting an ATV and dirt bike tomorrow. We'll try to keep our cracks covered. :rofl
