Using the Raid Designs www.raiddesigns.com steering stem clamp mount Husaberg Rallye Racing Australia have developed a compact nav tower that uses enduro headlight, ICO & MD roadbook. The tower is light, simple & removes all weight from the handlebars unlike other triple clamp or bar mounted systems. It is even noticeably lighter on the bars than the stock original headlight & odo system as there is no bar pressure from wind on the headlight etc.

For those navigation events that only need roadbook & ICO it is a very good solution to provide better steering feel & response to the rider. After successful testing at the recent Forest RallyMoto this system will be used at Yilgarn Rallye and Safari. The tower plates are 3mm thick each, laser cut and have adjustability for the MD in 3 directions to suit each rider.

It can be set up to use single ICO, twin ICO, stock odo etc by just using alternate MD back mount plates.

The system is all bolt on, no welding, no mods or drilling to the frame :thumb

    Hi Gary,
That setup looks great. If I compete in showroom class, can I use it? There is no welding and I am not using a fairing so from what I understand it should be ok? Any ideas Gary, Troy, anyone?????
    cheers

Garry, that is a very smart setup. Any idea if it will be expanded somehow for a iritrack?

The way things have been coming along in the last year I think I might be convinced to go for a Berg as my next rally bike...

Garry, you were going to come back to me about maybe renting one as part of the Berg safari team? :deal

I just picked up an 09 450 and It feels like a BMX bike when compared to the 690. I am tempted to switch the 690 for a 570 and keep the 450 as a trainer. :evil

no, all the full GPS/Iritrack/Sentinial style rallyes need a nav tower with a lot more real estate to hang things off, and there are lots of Dakar style rallye kit solutions around or in the wings...........this was to fill a gap for rallye Lite set ups

sorry buddy been a busy month with 2 rallies on opposites of the continent :D, plus trying to get organised for Sardinia/Albania etc.

Will send you a PM later today.

    </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
No... not on the enduro bikes... for the (cooler) swedish conditions...
Charlie just does just the normal oil/filter changes and service as recommended in the book for general trail work...

But (on the Rallye 450's) after the TUAREG Rallye in Marocco (it was up to 40 degrees a couple days, and 400 km days in rocky/dusty/sandy conditions)
we consider something along those lines for the future.

Actually it is an idea I've had since we got the FORCE sumpguard/water tanks for them; to use the three liter water tank
as an oil reservior and couple the original oil filter cassette to an extra external pump/filter (in the toolbox compartment)
and oil cooler (as part of the LHS radiator), before dumping it back in the reservior:
Weight nice and low, compact/robust design and easy to remove/work on...

But one thing we did find (in the slower going/technical rocky bits/deep sand) on the TUAREG that the route
of the stock exhaust header pipe quickly boiled the 3 liter content of the alloy sumpguard/water tank and the
rising heat from this contributed significantly to the running temp of the motor (we boiled the radiators on a
couple occassions - despite running the auxilliary el-fan on the RHS rdaiator in a "permanent on" configuration).

So it would seem that having the oiltank in this position AND retaining the stock header pipe design...
would be counterproductive to the whole idea?

But (with relation to some new front/rear fuel tank designs that are being worked on) there is the option
however to go over to a low style rallye exhaust, :deal

This is Team Rally Raid Sweden inmate (Åmme) and his 570 FE rallye kitted 'Berg... with a low rally exhaust system.

In this case get the "heat source" away from the sumpguard... and this confuguration (for a rallye bike) could be a good one,
with the extra oil reservior and pump/filter mounted in the way I mentioned down low.

PS: if anyone is interested... the two KEVA MOTOR FE 450 Rallye Husa's are for sale...:deal
Both bikes have been given a full service and inspection at the workshop since returning
after the TUAREG (2500 km) and have a total of 3250 km's on them since new.
I will put an ad in the "flea market" here at ADV with more info....

In the bottom photos of the bikes for sale, it looks like there is some room underneath the headlight for a finned oil cooler pending how much is going on back there running up to the tower and all the bits and pieces.

I was looking for something like the CPW KTM cooler but looks like I will just monitor closely the oil condition and work out what klms I can get out of it per change plus filter.

Check with CPW as I believe they have developed one for the Berg as well since it is so similar to the KTM one.

    Hi

The tanks are under production but the final development costs is not known at this point.

This tank setup is a bolt on 3 tank set kit. Its not possible to use them seperatly. Its not "In-tank" fuelpump. We will use the standard fuel regulator and a outside fuelpump. This way it possible to choose from wich tank unit you would like to run and a possibility to have extra fuelfilter before the pump.

The design is very similar to KTM 450RR. We use a low exhaust pipe.
The 2 front tanks contains 8-8,5 liters each and rear tank 12-13.5 liter.
Our goal is to have 30 liters in total.
The fronttanks are designed to have bigger radiators with electric fans on each side.

We use a carbon skid plate(KTM replica) and the mountings combines tank and skidplate attachment points.
The nav tower is designed to have a KTM oil cooler. The oil system uses the same tech specifcation as the Twinair oil coler unit.
The fairing is now under production and uses the standard light/lamp.

It will be possible to by the parts seperatly.

In a couple of weeks it will be a new website where you can se the first prototype. In the swedish 4 days rally i will have a pressconferance and media testdrive.

I will race this bike in Dakar 2012 with Öhlins suspension and KTM 450 RR frontwheel/brakes, 660 Rally rear wheel, Hinson clutch, FX modified gearbox, KTM 450RR forkclamps/PHDS/Öhlins, 570-camshaft and tuned head.

If you are interrested i will try to to deliver rallykit to them who race Dakar 2012. After that we start the production to other riders.
The price will be similar to JVC rallykit.
Tanks seperatly, price the same as Safari + fuelpump
