Just had my 09 TE 250 out for a gravel romp, first of the year...woohooo.
Myself and 2 friends bought 3 of these on the same day, the plan was take then to Moab last fall together. Amazing as it may seem, all of us were able to go and the trip worked out great.
We all fell in love with the TE's and I for one plan on putting many good hard miles on this summer. So far I have 1300+ miles on it with no issues.
New member of the TE250 club here.
I just picked up an 08 with 249 miles on it. It already has all the trick stuff on it pipe and protection pieces.
But I noticed the O2 sensor is not in the box of parts that came with the bike. Are they expensive? I think I want to switch back lambda sensor for better MPG. I am also thinking about putting the stock pipe back on it. While the Arrow is not that loud, I need stealth where I ride. All I am doing is trail riding this baby.
This is not my first Husky. I had a 2000 TE610 and an 04 TE250. After the other 04's started dropping valves I was afraid to ride it so it ended up sitting in the garage for a year until I sold it.
My New-To-Me 2010 TE250, bought as a dealer demo with 700 miles on the clock.
I didn't even get it home before I took it out and got it dirty
After the initial shakedown ride I immediately knew I had to do a few things:
The Karoos on the bike had to go.
The rear tail section was going to have to be removed before a trail obstacle did it for me :eek1
A bigger tank would be a necessity, and, in general, it was

First up, the tailectomy:
Note the addition of a small Touratech rack. I had the big ProMotoBillet rack on my 610 but I don't see the need for it with this bike, as I generally will only be carrying tools, tubes and a snack, with a support truck nearby.
I still need to fashion some crash-resistant turn signal mounts for the rear, but in the front I now have Tusk handguards with built in LED indicators .
However I can't find the flasher relay ANYWHERE. I've looked at the usual locations, behind the headlight, near the fusebox, but it seems to be missing! :huh Anyone with a 2010 model that can chime in where the flasher relay is I would really appreciate the help!
Cockpit mods: the parking lamp was missing when I got the bike, , so I just used the existing wires for GPS power. Also for some reason the bike came with the old style mirrors so I splurged and got a folding enduro mirror. Rox Risers are a must when you're as tall as me... I had to reroute the throttle cables but the other lines and wires had enough give to not cause trouble.
IMS Tank Install is next. Here's the old and new side by side. The IMS tanks carries the extra fuel low and shouldn't negatively affect the handling
The bits that come off the stock tank. One problem is that the fuel pump is relocated to the side of the IMS tank while it's well protected on the stock tank. Consequently the red plastic fuel elbow is slightly vulnerable and a potential failure point. This may have to be addressed at some point.

Getting the tank to fit was a bit of a chore, and the shrouds don't fit as well as before, but it still looks pretty good... A little gas cap bling helps
Finally taking shape... Karoos are replaced with Dunlop MX tires. IMS Tank is on... Tools on the rack, TT pipe guard and TT case saver installed, which were some surprisingly affordable bits (for Touratech) . Ready to ride again
Last weekend was the shakedown ride with the new tank and tires... My game was way off and I couldn't seem to hang on the singletrack , but that was my fault and not the bikes... The bike handled itself magnificently, and once I got comfortable on the ATV trails with more margin of error, I really enjoyed myself.

Anyone know the following for a TE 250 - 06 model.
Oil type - i think its about 1.4L
Where the heck the oil level checking screw is located.
It should list the amount right next to the fill port, not 100% sure though.
The check screw is on the same side as the fill (right) and is just to the right of the rounded area in the lower case. Take your time filling, it is easy for it to overfill still since the check screw is such a small hole.
Hi all. A newb here. New to the sport and to the husky. Just got a well loved 07 with a countershaft leak. Anyone know how to get the spacer out so I can get to the oring? I look forward to learning from you all and hope I can add something, too. Thanks much, in advance!
2008 TE250 handbook has the capacities at 1.8 US quarts for oil and filter or 1.5 US quarts for just the oil.
My bike has a window for oil level checking, on the RH crankcase.
Last ride out on Friday, (my first for 2 1/2 months, being a grown up is so busy!!) I had my first clutch safety interlock failure. Easily remedied, for now, by a wiggle of the cable from the clutch switch.
Is bypassing it simply a case of joining the wires together (I assume there's only two ) or would better practice be to find the other end and "modify" that?

Im going to buy a 2012 250 or 310 when they hit the dealers in November.
i called the husqvarna dealer in Atlanta this week. they told me that all the TE250 bikes will be a "low" model.
i searched around looking for info on how the factory is lowering them .
all i could find is that they "lowered the forks and shock while adding stiffness".. not sure where i read that but its what i remember from it.
i guess the factory has everything sorted out with the suspension so that the "lowering" will not adversely effect the bikes handling and off road capability ?
wonder if this "lowering" will reduce the suspension travel any ?
anybody have better info on this ?

Unless Husqvarna plan on digging a hole for each wheel?
thats what i was thinking too.
i think the benefit of being able to control/wrestle the bike properly in the woods (being lower to the ground) exceeds the benefit of having a little extra suspension travel. well at least for me.
I'm looking at mine now (phwoar!) and there's what looks to me like lots of room to lower it before the frame rails would be in danger of hitting stuff.
That's assuming you're a mortal, demi and semi-gods of the dirtbike world may have different opinions! I'd also think that better control of your bike would be a good trade off for a little less clearance.
I hear from the Atlanta dealer that they already have the 2012 TE310 but not the TE250 anyone know when the TE250s are supposed to go on sale ?
The 2010 TE250 is insanely tall with plenty of ground clearance. I'm 6'6" and the bike needed nothing but bar risers to fit me perfectly. I have taken it on trails where the Kool-Aid colored bikes were scraping their skidplates and I would just sail right through. In fact I keep saying I'll upgrade from the stock plastic skidplate when I break it off, but I haven't even scraped it up yet
In any case the "lower" model won't be that low...

I have a 2011 TE 250 on my short list for a new bike this year. Anyone know if this bike will do practice days at a MX track without a lot of suspension work?
If it is like they were in 2007, you can adjust the suspension to work decently. Are you just wanting to play on the track for practice and will be doing enduro work the rest of the time?

Yes, this will be a mainly enduro bike, with play/ practice time on a MX track. Some of the jumps I hit are 80 - 100ft table tops and the WR250R comes down from them like a ton of bricks.
I think it will be alright, but I am not an MX'er. The bike is lighter than the WR250R by ~50 lbs and has more travel.
