I heard this morning that the North Cascades Hwy
could open as early as the first part of May this year.
That and the beautiful sunny day motivated me up the highway.

I was thinking that this is really a last glorious winter day and not an early spring day. This picture says I am probably right.

What a great day to be out. Thanks for sharing.

I thought I had my route to the Salem rally in July all picked out, but every time someone posts photos of the area I want to change my route and see more of the PNW!

Maybe I should just slab out there and back so I can fit more of it into one trip...

That stretch and beyond are one the prettiest places I've ever been. Thanks for taking me there again. :D

Do you plan to have an ADV let's open the Hwy gathering opening day? If at all possible I sure would like to come over for that and to meet the little lady that gives homemade treats to the folks waiting for the road to open.

I'm thinking I can ride over Stevens Pass on the way and return N. Cascades. Sounds like a fun weekend to me. :evil

Good idea, fast forward through the plains and get to the good stuff. West Mt. is full of good too.

They always put the opening out to the news via TV/newspaper.
Be nice to see you and anyone who wants to ride. I'll post as soon as I hear/read something.

I'd like to ride up to Seattle area from Boise this summer to visit family. That looks like a great detour.

+1, we used to make a trip from CO thru WY, Montana, northern ID and drive that road every August when my folks were living in Sequim. Spent a wonderful overnight at Diablo Lake (Thunder Arm) each trip.
Last summer we rode hwy 3 across southern British Columbia and I wished we had taken 20 as it is a much nicer more scenic ride. Especially thru the North Cascades. :nod

Nice pictures as usual Tom. You're doing a good job of making me homesick! Another month to go and I'll get to join up with you guys again. Make sure you get a new battery for your KLX, pushing is hard work.
