I thought I could set the keys down and walk away.

    Searching for help, led here.

No avail; as ride reports crept into my dreams and only made matters worse.

I was cracking open a bottle of advrider.com a day.

    Looksee
A unit of measure in a journey: Look to the farthest point you can see and then travel to that point.

I’m off to capture a landscape of interpretive looksees. I’ll be using action cams for paint brushes, pictures for words, Crayons to journal, Youtube for canvas and Van Gogh’s asylum piece The Starry Night for navigation.

I Took The Time To Live

    Is pretty much,
    very much
    an ongoing ride report;
    stitched together
from a string of camping and fishing trips.
    I’ll be exploring TN, KY,
    WV, VA,
NC, SC, and parts of upper GA.
    I’ll be looking for
    hidden jewels,
    chance encounters,
    super cool people,
    great food,
    camping,
    fishing
and the occasional bed and breakfast.
    Creeks,
    streams,
    rivers,
    small mouth,
    large mouth,
    war eye,
    bluegill,
    crappie
    and trout.
    Great roads,
    back roads,
    twisty roads,
    dirt roads,
    single track
    and rallies.

The (loose) plan is to head out on Fridays after work, (solo or) hopefully meeting up with a few guys at predetermined camp sites. Head out in the mornings and see where the trip takes us. Make camp and then a Sunday backroad ride home.

    And so it begins ...

I’m heading out to a rally in the morning. I forgot what it was like. Definitely been to long since I’ve done something like this!
All the gear prep and the packing has me reminiscing my Hi-School days prepping for fishing trips and camping on islands with good friends!

(I need to call those guys)

If you’d asked me a month ago I would have probably said I was looking forward to the ride and meeting new people.
I find it odd and totally unexpected that now I’m packed, its the “in my head/helmet time” and the no where to be found look you see on peoples faces when they sit and stare into a blazing camp fire ... I wanna go there!

I’ll post up some pictures on the back side

    ... Lets Take A Ride

    Great Stories!

The ride, the rally, the people ...

    glad I went!

Casey (the organizer and an ambassador for KTMtwins)
Is one of those rare upright people you hope picks you out of everybody else on the play ground.

I met a seventy two year old man with a permanent childish grin, a genuine love for riding and an unpretentious ability to run circles around the majority of us all.

A totally stoked woman on a brand new African Twin: who just recently decided to try dual sporting made me feel like a noob on a 1090

A kid on a KLR that rode from Vermont (or was it Pennsylvania) to Tennessee to “ride” called me an old man when I turned down a beer and cracked open my boost vitamin/energy drink!

It turns out my first one took three days to focus and it has absolutely nothing to do with the ride ...

Signs, signs everywhere a sign do this don’t do that can’t you read the signs.

The reason we travel isn't simply to create an "adventure", but to have fun, enjoy the travel and surrounding culture. So let loose a little, pick a vehicle that puts a childish smirk on your face and let the trip take you ... “Chris Cordes” ...

This weekend I took a trip out to the headwaters of the Duck River to do some moto-fishing.

I didn’t plan it out this way but as I was sitting here zooming in and out with a satellite looking for good places to get a line wet; it dawned on me that this river is taking me straight back to the Fall Hallow Rally Campgrounds.

Thats it ... I only rode the Saturday morning portion of the rally and there are four times as many Tennessee Backroads out there left to do ... Not to mention the creeks, streams and a river chocked full of small mouth ... I’ll take it! ... Over the next few weekends I’ll take some pictures and catch up with you guys later. Anybody local reading along ... let me know ... Lets Take A Ride!

My dad was born down this river. A farmers son. He told me they weren't so lucky as those who owned land on the Duck. Every winter the river flooded which brought fresh fertile dirt for next seasons crops. (Of course the guys upstream were loosing dirt)

The two richest rivers in the world with diversity of plants and fish and this is one of them.

If I can't catch a fish in it; I'm not telling anyone!

This ranger grew up on motorcycles

When he drove up I thought it might be on official business

He says: Naw, I came over here to see this bike!

    Supper nice guy!

He sold all his bikes when his first kid was born and says once there all grown
    ... He's riding again!

Dual Sport Motorcycles are cool ...
I lost count of how many people told me that in one way or another and thats just in this one day!

Rib Fest Dual Sport Motorcycle Rally. Those words create an expectation of fun ... and it was! A hearty thank-you-shout-out goes to Lee Waggoner and the BMW Motorcycle Club of Nashville for putting on this event!

I finally get it! The BMW GS1200; I get the appeal! I’ve never ridden one and I’ve read plenty of articles as to why I should simply put them out of my mind.

It clicked while talking with guys from states far and wide that “did not” trailer to the rally but rode here.

Fathers and sons riding together (those were the stories I was loving hearing the most)

connected with Scala’s, enjoying each others company, taking the time to live and doing it as best friends, as men (that boy finally grew up) ...

Reading reviews is a great tool to have but being around a hundred or so guys that are living from the back of them is the best review (not written) I’ve seen.

Like them, love them (or not) there are few bikes that can provide that kind of distance comfort and livability! ... I’m not buying one but I like-em more than I did before ... mechanical/engineering art!

Oh yea, there was also in attendance: BBQ ribs, chicken and andouille gumbo, gourmet burgers, baked beans, chips, white rice, potato salad, sweet potato surprise, bread, burritos, bacon, chorizo sausage, eggs and cheese, pancakes, frijoles, grits and english muffins.

    Glad I Went!
