OK, I am normally very hesitate to start a Ride Report in the middle of summer, but since I just got in from riding for 12 days my bike and I are tired and it's a 100+ outside... What the Hell. I will be making this a work in progress as I add to this in a slow burn process.

Now for the Ride, or should I say how it came about. As some of you may know I pieced a motorized ride together predicated on the official "Idaho Centennial Trail" through Idaho back in 2006 ICT link

I rode it back in 2007 on a KLR and been toying with riding it again, when I received a email from one of our local riders about the the ride and do I still have my route.....well my retort was yes and I sent it out he then asked if I wanted to come along. Well twist my arm, I'm..... He then says GREAT, you can lead the ride.

Well here is a little trailer of things yet to come from this ride....

Keep the popcorn and beer close by and check in as I tell the tale for 1200 miles through Idahos' beautiful back country

    And so it starts

The trip started formulating back in May for a departure of July 28th, but finally with everyone's work and other commitments it was settled on to meet north of Sandpoint NLT the 29th with a departure of Monday.

I had some friends I wanted to see up north and to pop in an visit my daughter in Moscow beside it was too hot here in the valley, so I headed up Thursday and stopped in to see Bgunn, Live2ride just outside Coeur D Alene good to see old friends and they helped me sort out some issues on my bike. Then I headed up to Post Falls area to visit Rainbow007 and the famous Ladybug0048 where we had dinner and chatted away. Next morning I headed on up to Priest Lake where I camped for the night then hit the ICT back to Sandpoint

Only shot I took that night.

Next day I arrived at the designated rendezvous just afternoon, no one was around so I just chilled out

Finally walked around and found the setup spot..... SWEET!

As I was getting ready to reset my GPS I noticed how many miles I'd rode to get here :huh it's only 480 normally

This Zumo has been through hell and back with me, the tropics were particularly hard on it

    Later Steve rolled in..

We headed out around 9 am but first we needed substance so I remember a good local Mom & Pop diner... very popular with the locals in Ponderay

Took longer than we thought because the place was friggin packed on a Monday morning no doubt :huh About a hour later we emerged well gorged.

Headed on around to Clark Fork where we are about to leave the pavement until Wallace. Started following my old route and I had to figure out how to get the Zumo to reverse route :scratch got on track and the 332 to 412 right on the Montana/Idaho border. Traction was perfect still a couple mud holes :evil before I knew it I was on the pegs with Curtis right beside hauling it.

Stopped to wait for the group to catch up waited like 15 minutes ... humm... starting to worry... we weren't going that fast were we?? Curtis was turning his bike around when we hear engine noise, Whew! Seems in the shadows out chuck wagon hit a cut off tree piece knocking off the pannier and planting said rider in a mud hole (sorry no one took a picture)

No wait a minute here you go

Notice the road :evil about 50 miles of this good stuff

    Onward:

At one of the rest stops Steve decided it time to start force food and snack upon to lighten his load as his pannier is now held on with ROK straps ( a good set of ratchet ties downs are also a good investment for those using panniers)

    All-in-all not a bad start.

We rolled into Wallace late afternoon and took a break, Wallace is a very interesting place with a colorful history. BTW the movie "Dante's Peak" was filmed here.

can't remember but I think 7 of these

fueled up in Avery made sure the spare tank was full (a gallon), cause from here to the next gas is a... loooooonnnnnnng way

Found a nice camp along the river and setup and proceeded to clean up

Looks like you had a great time. Thanks for posting the RR so I can live vicariously through your adventure. I have gotten soft in my older age and just find the idea of giving up the comforts of home a little more than I care to do at this time. But.....seeing this, and others, great trips is slowly giving me the motivation.

Will you be posting the route? How the heck did you get the GS's over that log?????

We missed the first batch of these tunnels (ended up on the dirt road next to the river), but enjoyed the rest.

The morning we went through, the deer were hanging out in the tunnels - big surprise for everyone :eek1 :lol3

thanks again for highlighting our map, Sam.
