    Now that you have a faulty PG in your hand, lets find a way to test it and show its misbehaving.

    This will be very handy for others in the future given the nature of issues it can cause.

    I have a 950 motor open in my garage. If you send me your bad sensor, I can do some tests and compare with a good one. I have both 990 and 950 ignition timing gears so I can test for both models. Just a thought.

    Do you have an oscilliscope ?
    One thing I noticed right away is that the tachometer needle barely bounces at all now and before it was bouncing all over within 2-300 RPM in either direction
    I am amazed that it wont backfire out the carb now on cold start, when before it was a sure thing

    I'm having these exact same symptoms. The pulse generator is cheap enough to be worth trying without diagnosing further. Where is this located and what's the process to replace it?
