EDITED HUGE FILE OF HOSTELS IN EUROPE DOWN TO THE ONES I WANTED.
SAVED FILE AS HOSTELS-NO DK CH AU.GPX . (only the hostels in those countries)

CREATED A NEW LIST NAMED "HOSTELS" IN BASECAMP

IMPORTED THAT FILE HOSTELS-NO DK CH AU.GPX TO THE BASECAMP LIST "HOSTELS"

    UPLOADED TO GARMIN.

    NO CAN FIND.

    WHAT HAVE I F'D UP?

A couple of questions to help narrow down the issue.

1 - After you imported into BaseCamp, could you see them or did you receive any kind of error?

2 - How did you upload them to your Garmin? Did you select them all in BaseCamp and then do a "send to"?

Comment: I prefer to take waypoints and create a POI file using Garmin POI Loader.

I have similar issue, may be related...

Got new Zumo 595 (upgraded from 590). Made tracks in BC with some dropped pins to use as “saved places” to help me navigate the tracks (I follow tracks and do not convert them to “trips”).

After dropping everything to my GPS unit (just using drag and drop in BC), I see the tracks on my GPS map but the map doesn’t show the points I created. I do see the points in “saved places” but just not on the map. My previous unit - Zumo 590 - would automatically show them on the gps map as well (as a little green heart icon).

There is no option to check “show on map” the saved places like it is done with tracks. At least I could not find it and web search didn’t suggest otherwise...

Just out of curiosity, I saved few places using the GPS unit itself (in gps “where to”, typing an address and then saving the place with an assigned name). I can see these on the gps map with no problem when I zoom in far enough on the map.

    What gives?

I’m not trying to hijack this thread - the issue seem similar. I’ll be happy to delete and repost separately. Thanks!

I ran downstairs this morning and grabbed by Zumo 595LM. I have a bunch of waypoints on the device. I'm on the latest firmware 4.40 and the latest map which for me is Full Coverage of North America 2019.11.

1 - First, I just went to the map and I couldn't see any of them no matter how close I zoomed
2 - I next selected "Where to?", "Saved" and could see them in the list and if I selected the map tab I can see them there. By default even with custom icons selected in BaseCamp the icons will be green hearts to show they are saved favorites.
3 - Next, I put my GPS in simulator mode and then manually selected on the map a spot right next door to one of my waypoints and told it to navigate there. When in the routing mode I could see the icon for my favorites as it "drove by"
4 - Next, I turned off simulator mode and just selected some random spot on the map to navigate to. After it finished calculating I tapped the map, tapped the upper left arrow icon to get an easy overview of the map and zoomed out. I could see all my favorites.
5 - Next, I selected "Stop" to cancel the routing to that random place. I then went back to the map and guess what...I can see all my favorites. WEIRD! Probably should open a case with Garmin about a software bug.
6 - Next, I do have a POI file loaded and I scrolled over to see if those showed on the map. Nope.
7 - Next, I selected a route to one of my POIs. It does route there but just showed the finish line flag rather an any icons around it.

    Hope this helps!

Well, I ended up calling Garmin. All places that are saved in “saved places” should be visible on the map. As long as the setting in “map layer” under “Map & Vehicles” is checked for “up ahead places”.

So they suggested I import it again, in smaller batches. So I did. And it worked. I can see everything now. No need for POI loader (at least for me).
