Courtesy Russia, $1500-$2000. Lots of 'high tech electronic noises' and they don't show the actual product, but they say they'll release it in 2014.

Can't see myself paying that, but I could imagine this being a big hit with the crowd that can afford a GSA for weekend riding only. I wonder if having it in the center of your vision is the best approach? Google Glass puts its image outside the center, you have to glance at it but it's out of your way if you don't want to see it.

I dunno, I feel pretty righteous since God speaks directly to Tiger riders :norton

The helmet seems like an expensive boondoggle to me. I imagined someone on a brand new, scarcely ridden but heavily farkled $15000 motorcycle would buy one. Replace GSA with Tiger Explorer or whatever floats your boat.

Eventually, once this tech is ubiquitous and thus cheap(er), I will TOTALLY spring for a helmet HUD. If I'm going to have to endure the distraction of a GPS, I'd rather be staring up at the road when I check it versus spending time glancing (and pressing, and poking, and swiping) down at my bars. :deal

But for now? Let some whale-penis leather weekender be the early adopter, I'll be standing over here waiting. :1drink

Personally I like the idea, just as long as it doesn't take subscriptions other BS like that. I think it would be better if they made a non-integrated model that could just be attached to a typical full face helmet. And I could also do without the speakers and earphones.

Not keen on the idea of anything distracting my vision, or interrurpting my vision any time I am moving on a bike.

May be usefull during an off road trail ride instead of using a roll map device.

The downside with regular navigation is that you need to look down to check it.
The upside is that you can ignore it.

Usually I only need help at the certain points on the route and the rest of the route speaks for itself.
I would hate this thing constandly being in the center of my view, when I do not need it.

With this sort of tech, I like the display to be "centre of vision", IE that you change whether you're looking at it, or 'through' it based on your focus. If it's 'off to the side' you have to both flick your eyes and refocus and that takes even longer.

The critical thing is that the screen itself must not be able to 'block' your vision, even when subverted maliciously. IE it must have a translucency, that is restricted by the technology of the screen itself, not simply software, that even if an attacker hacked it and made it show "solid black" across the whole screen, what this would manifest itself as it just a tinted patch on your visor, almost like a set of sunglasses.

No no. New Jersey will ban it first. Remember the Segway people mover?
The city of Elizabeth New Jersey banned it before it was even available.
Several other towns followed suit. It's been available now for years and
I have yet to see even ONE in this state! :cry
