I beat Scott to the pics !
Wow! shiftdrum is broken! no wonder you lost 6th gear!
Wow Feike! What's the odds of 4 people that know each other having engine trouble all within weeks of one another?
JettnJim, Parepin, me and you! LOL
I'm happy I split my cases, haha, now I was actually able to recognize your part.
That iiiiis some funny shit right there.
Hey Feike Ol' pal.... :fyyff
I juuust got back from New York and have found the sitcheeeation you've got gotchaself into this time.
So I hearby vouch for your character to ADVMax and all others involved. oh wait It's toooo late for that.
On a slightly more serious note... MAN I'm VERY glad this is all turning out sooo good! A BIG THANK YOU to ADVMax and all the support crew for coming together like this to help Feike outta this jam!
Excellent brotherhood/sisterhood (haven't forgot about ya Esther) here on ADV to help make a Nomads life on the road a little easier.
PS Thanx to you Feike.... and thanx to Esther "NomadGal", Al "Parepin", not to mention my own bike Desiree', I no longer want the only two bikes I really wanted for Adventure Touring LOL! A 950 or a highly modded KLR.... Fuk I am now screwed!!
I'll be in Hermitage,Tennesee in two weeks... but it sounds like you may be gone West by then?
Keep the updates coming and Peace,
No doubt a huge thank you to sstewart and AdvMax. And it's not the "culture shock" per se, it's the damn accents that get me.
Parts will be @ KTM World on Friday afternoon, an hour or so away. Expect combustion by Saturday evening, Sun AM at the latest.
Thanks for all the well wishes and support from the asylum as well!
Don't you love it when you invite a perfect stranger into your home and he proceeds to make his motorcycle look like this?
Austrian Jigsaw puzzle:
Found the cause of my intermittent cam chain clatter...
More of the detritus:
This is the cleanest my cases have been since the LAST time I did this...
Have I mentioned how bitchin' it is that sstewart has let me turn his operating roo...I mean shop into a scene that would have a CSI tech running in panic? Not to mention it's turned into the ahem, smoking lounge....
I certainly cannot thank the man enough.
This IS GREAT stuff maaan! I'm laughing my ass off that you, Esher, Al and I have all done this done this on this years 2012 rides LOL!!!
Thanks to KTM World, parts are in hand and the reassembly will now commence. The shift drum has indeed been updated. I'll post a pic later for those who haven't seen the old vs new parts.
Edited to add this pic of the new part next to the offender:
Slightly different, wouldn't you say?
I hate it I haven't been there this week to be in on all the fun. I'm planning on riding up to Scott's on Sunday morning to check in on the project and have coffee and "breakfast". I figure you'll have the ol girl back together by then, I hope you are still planning on being in the area on Sunday.
That new shift drum looks like truck parts laying next to the old one in that pic that Scott sent me.
Returned from KTM world around 6pm....
Bottom end looked like this around 8pm....
Iffen y'all look close you kin see the shiny new parts...
(Shit I'm even starting to talk like ya'll here in Alabama..)
Scott took a couple more pics along the way-he can post 'em up.
Fast forward to 11am and we're looking like this:
And we're off to the local machine shop for some quick thread repair. Damn valve cover bolt wouldn't hold the torque.
Maaaan you are talk'n like a Red Neck... uhummmph I mean A Southerner!
Fluids, a battery and some plastic away from a test ride...
You grocery shop like a 12 year old with his mother's milk money clenched in his sticky little fingers.
Now I on the other hand, go for Skittles and Powerade.
The end result of shopping when stoned and hungry...
A couple hours behind schedule but combustion has occurred!
Back together, running like a top and back to being a shifty bastard!
Pics to follow whenever I get around to it.
