It is a Black hole...
with White pinstripes...
when do we get more pics?
i'm interested to see the vw conversion. i've never seen one in a /2 frame before.
YA...LOTS OF PICS!
Well, we can cheat and give a little sneak peak. Nathan won't mind. (i hope)
he is SERIOUSLY gonna need some handlebars.
I would take that /2 on as a restoration project in a second. I hate you.
Why, you little... !!
You asked for it.
The sidecar rig:
It's all just surface rust. The worst looking areas are still sound.
This bike's been somewhere:
I'm pretty sure this switch is correct:
..but is this?
This is a bumper sticker I approve of:
This bike, I was afraid to receive. I knew it'd be too cool to get rid of, but I really wanted to focus my money on the sidecar rig. Oh well! Life is rough sometimes..
Someone boogered with the transmission top, so I wonder if I can booger with the side and put a starter on this bike..
How do I unlock this? Besides turning the key..
Cliff notes: a huge money pit.
Now, if you want to quote me or talk about a certain picture, don't quote them all!
That is just awesome. It's only money Have fun with that.
Interesting adapter plate there--looks to be cut from a VW transmission, therefore the starter mount. I think you'd end up hitting oil if you tried to remove enough transmission to clear a starter. Motor looks like a stockish single carb 40 horse, and it should kick easier than a /2, as they had minimal compression (7.5ish).
Hmm. I got it to turn over on the trailer, but now, I can't.
Man, something feels familiar...
From my R90 thread:
[insert harp fade-away music here]
you have to get one of them running just so you can have an action shot of you riding with those crazy handlebars.
Well, if you say so..
They're so rusty, I think I'm just going to sand them and rattle can them black.. until I get some proper low bars.
Hey, I had those same handlebars on my stringray back in the 60s.
Ooh, Wixom lowers!
I got a set of those..
Those switches look exactly like the ones on my 1960 R50. High beam and horn on the left switch. Turn signal on the right.
Thanks for that picture, mate!
I was wondering what it'd look like mounted.
Now, to decide if I want to keep the fairing stuff..
that should take about 0.0145 seconds. "NANA nana nana nana NANA nana nana nana ... BATMAN"
If that hi/low switch on the throttle side still works, they are BIG $$. The repops are even big $$. You can put the black (i think they're called batwing style) on both sides if you like.
The Wixom lowers amplify the valve noise a bit, I don't mind.
And yeah, we call it the Bat Bike....
Sweet project bikes. Let the build threads begin.
