Good morning AK inmates, I have a question for ya. I'm a seasonal employee and am blessed with summers off (June/July). I've been spending the last 5 in Colorado camping, riding, hiking and living a proper dirtbag lifestyle out of the van but would like to expand beyond CO in summer 18 and am just starting my research. Here's a link to 2017's CO dirtbike and Brew Tour http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/colemanfus-colorado-dirt-bike-and-brew-tour-2017.1225118/

This is mostly a tourist trip but I'll have the bike hanging off the van. I'm curious what AK has in terms of dirtbiking? Is there organized OHV locations like CO? Are there a specific towns or area that's popular with riders? I'm not exclusive to single track stoke, I'll ride anything that's not paved from Jeep roads to ATV two track. I'll camp out of the van, ride for a few days and move on. None of my riding friends have even been to AK so I'm seeking assistance from the ADV collective. Oh yea brewery intell a bonus :evil

Hi there. Come to Cantwell. There are some exquisite jewels here that are only ridden by me. Shit, I've been looking for a wing-man to ride some of this remote cross country goodness that I normally have to solo. Your vid indicates you have some skill, preparedness, backcountry ethics. Good.

See the thread in here titled 'Eye Candy'.

Wonder if we have wankers in AK yet? Much tagging to be done.

Certainly. There was one in the Taco King / Abbott restroom this summer. I was disappointed to see the tag but there's no question; the dude likes burritos.

Yea, @legion - yea, TW is know for it sadness, expecting less and getting it, and borderline criminal tag game. Shit, some Wanker tagged a fire truck this week?

AK is a go, I'm starting to do some research and get my head around the distance. My friend who just retired was a camp host and sent me a copy of the Milepost and a few maps. I enjoy driving and living out of the van so this should be about perfect. Just need to pick a few hard targets up there. I have a former player who was a ATC in Fairbanks. Now she's back in NFL and we'll get together to answer all my junior varsity Alaska questions.

Still in search of riding locations. Jim Creek, Cantwell...... the list is growing :clap
Thanks to those that provided both public and private intell please keep it coming - enjoy the weekend!

I'm part of a crew that hosts off-road races and rides. Our Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/FTRAlaska/

We host lots of great events during the summer, and last year we had about 300 riders at four different races as well as plenty of other rides and get-togethers. We also have a couple of guys (myself included) that race the Baja 1000 every year, and we're headed out next week!

Try not to get sidetracked in Canada! I just did the drive from SW FL in 10 days with my Wife. Of course we went by way of Telluride instead of the direct route because MOUNTAINS!

First time to AK can be life changing for people! Enjoy!

Oh! Try to make D2D if you can!

All of the above is strictly my opinion and experience! What do I know? Ask Alcan Rider! I just saw Jack last week! Anyone else? Didn't think so...

Like a proper geek I've been doing my research. D2D is a possibility but I'd feel a little foolish turning up to a long distance moto event in a van? Is there off road stoke around Dawson?

Just difficult to get my head around some of the distances.
Looking like 8 long days just to get to the border?

EDIT: We made a new map pix cause there was a duplicate in the original. 6 days but don't know if 13-14 hr days are a possibility. I've done Daytona to St. Louis in a day the last 5 summers going out to Colorado so that's a reality but we have no experience as the tracks jogs north. It does have the long days during the first half of the journey as I imagine the trip in to Canada things will slow down.

If you've been along any of this track let us know if it's realistic?

Thanks for those PM's - the intell (including breweries) is tricklin in! Any destination info about places to camp a few days and ride would be great. I have a few hard targets but not nearly enough to fill a month in country. Please help this flatlander search for AK stoke!
