    Hello Indonesian riders,

I will begin my third ride in Indonesia this June and I am requesting some help with information please.

I will ride from Bali to Dili. Right now I have not decided whether to catch the ferry at Larantuka or Kalabahi. I know for sure I can get the Larantuka to Kupang ferry, and it is roll-on / roll-off ferry. I can't find information about the Kalabahi to Kupang ferry - is it roll-on / roll-off, or is it just a passenger ferry?

Also, what about the trip from Larantuka to Kalabahi? Is it easy to take a motorcycle?

I might be riding a Versys X300, I have not decided yet. But it will be bigger than a scooter :)

(hello to all ride brothers in Borneo!)

    thank you
    Colin

I can't remember all the details but there is a roll on roll off ferry from Larantuka to Kalabahi. You have to get the timing right as i think there's only one departure each week.
The seperate "ferrys" are mostly boats between Larantuka, Adonara, Lembata, Pantar across to Alor but all take bikes. You will need some time to do these islands though.

I have no idea about Kalabahi to Kupang either but if you can find a passenger boat going to Kupang I''m pretty sure they will take bikes also.

There is a lot of great riding in Flores. I reccommend not just pushing across on the main road like most overlanders. Take the back roads. If pushed for time taking the ferry from Ende to Kupang might then be the go.

Have a great trip. NTT is my favorite area in Indo. We are going back out there in July.

Hey we will just miss each other, I will be in Timor by July.

I'm hoping to maximise ride distance and minimise ferries, but I'll do what I have to do to get to Timor!

Updating this thread with my findings: the twice-weekly ferry from Kalabihi to Kupang is a vehicle ferry. it carries trucks, cars and bikes.

Hi @andyhol thanks for replying ,

I did a lot of searching on the websites for adventure motorbike FOR TALL RIDERS 194 cm and came up with the following list ...

I think the Honda CRF250 is a bit to light for me, but it is for tall riders...

On the moment I have a Victory Jackpot 2013 & Victory Cross Country 2014 .... But because I live in a Free Trade Zone in Indonesia I cannot go all around Indonesia, I did go all around Sumatra for 2 weeks on the Jackpot but the paperwork is not easy .... Sooo because of this problem I'm thinking to buy a adventure motorbike that can travel all over Indonesia

So the affordable choices for tall adventure bikes in Random order are in Indonesia :

    Kawasaki Z650 Rp. 160 juta

Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS XT Rp. 200 juta

    Honda CB500X Rp. 135 juta

Motor SIOB adventure 400 Rp. 95 juta

    .....

Yes making a bike ready for adventure to top of mountain in Indonesia will take some work and time and money....
