Hello inmates. I received a call tonight from a buddy who is in the emergency room in Jackson, Wyoming (south of Grand Teton National Park). He was riding the Backcountry Discovery Route from Canada to Mexico and I was supposed to meet him next week in Colorado.

He was riding his bike with a sidecar (occupied by his dog) and today he somehow crashed it and it flipped and landed on top of him, down out of view of the road. He may have a leg injury and was about to get more tests when he called me to let me know. He thinks it was something mechanical that snapped. His dog is ok.

Anyhow he is asking me to put out a request for some help. He needs to do something with his dog (not sure what is needed) and has to go recover his rig at some point, so anybody local that is willing to at least talk to him and see what he needs, would be APPRECIATED!

I think the best thing for now is to PM me and I will give you his contact information so you can text him. He really needs a little local support, not much and it would help him a lot. He has no electronics other than his cell phone as all his gear is out at the crash site down a small embankment, so I am posting for him.

    Long live ADV!

    thanks, -matt

Looks like the situation is under control. Th dog went home for the night with a kind nurse. Inmate is being released to a motel. I will will retrieve inmate, dog, and outfit in Jackson tomorrow night and bring them to Boise on Wednesday.
Matt, call me and I'll give you the details.

Is he rebelpacket with his dog Lola? I've been following his thread and hadn't seen mention of the wreck.

Good to hear they'll both be alright.

Thanks to boxertwin, he is taking care of it as he stated. :clap

boxertwin and I were both acting as emergency contacts for this trip and were both contacted, but he is doing all the real work! We talked to the inmate today and he is physically ok and so is the dog. Weren't so sure last night when he called me before his CAT scan.

He wants to update ADV on his on terms in time (but no it is not rebelpacket). He feels it was most definitely a mechanical failure, he has been fixing some things as he goes (mostly sidecar related) and is trying to estimate which ones, as the graded gravel road was straight when the rig suddenly veered left. The rest of the story will have to wait until they get back to the crash site probably tomorrow morning.

Thanks to all... over and out.

Sorry folks, it's the first person I thought of wrecking off the road by themselves on a sidecar.

That's not him, but a nice nap in the shade sounds like a good idea about now.

    Everyone is home safe.
