    Hello,

INK'D By SMI is opening up an online store that offers Acerbis aftermarket plastics with proprietary permanent graphics packages. We will be selling fenders, gas tanks, and accessories. This process will be available in any of the graphics on the website for any make, year, or model based on Acerbis plastic availability. Store should be open for purchase with prices by later today. Please email with any questions that you may have. Let me what you think of the graphics. http://www.inkdbysmi.com

    Thanks, Bridger

Hmmm, interesting. Ink'd implies a process of permanently embedding images into the plastic. Is that correct?

As a fan of Tatoo type art, I'm wondering ... can you work with customer supplied artwork?

I believe Acerbis supplied the OE Tank for my Girlie Tiger.

Can you work with used plastics? E.g., I send you a plastic tank and you apply your process with my design.

Thanks, and best of luck on your venture.

The actual process is called hydro graphic transfer, but yes you are corrrect. No, the film we use is very special. We only work with brand new plastic. Prep is the most important part of the process, so we like to start with new plastic. Thanks

If you apply this process to a gas tank is it permanent or will it peel eventually like graphics due to fuel fumes leaching through the tank?

It is permanent and is impossible to peel. Think of a hydro graphic as ink. Ink can be scratched just like plastic in a big crash, but will not peel.

Also, it will not discolor over time.

And no problems with doing a gas tank? Thanks pretty cool.

Can you do a solid color or it needs to have a pattern or texture?
